There are so many people here devoted to sports and action which got me to thinking that there must be some superb stories out here on meeting sports stars and the like. Share some of your stories as it opens up interest in learning how real/unreal some of these individuals are in reality. Here are some of mine:
As you can tell, I am bored at work today, but thought this was would be entertaining to hear some good stories out there.

+ Dan Ackroyd - back in my undergrad days, we woud trek out to Mardi Gras as it was about 8 hours from Atlanta. The second time out, we decided to catch the Radiators at the House of Blues. I was on esctasy at the time and just wigging my nuts off. I had to wizz and made a mad dash through the crowd. Bam, I ran into something solid. When I realized it was a person, I had to apologize. I looked up and it was Dan Ackroyd who asked if I was okay. I couldn't speak. He said to have a good time and the bathroom is that way, and walked off. He is taller than I expected!
+ Mike Stipe - Met him at a cool watering hole in mid-town Atlanta. He was on a bench with a guy and girl. Numerous of us tried to talk to him but he was a complete ass about it. Really strange guy. He honestly seemed to be with both in a sexual way.
+ My admissions officer - After getting booted from a fine college in Atlanta for being a divot, I regrouped and applied to a small college in TN about 2.5 hours from my hometown. Given that my grades were not solid, I really got to know the admissions officer well who let me in after hearing my story. I would come by and chat with him often during the year. He told me stories about his two sons, one of which was going to attend UVa in the fall. I even met him and his brother when they came by the campus once to hang with pops. They turned out to be Thomas Jones and Julius Jones, who later attended ND.
- Billy Wagner - he went to my rival high school in VA, the kid was a stud in high school. I dated a girl from said high school that was his old ex, which I didn't know until one night we were both at a house party. It took Billy one punch and I was on the floor. I got my ass knocked down by a future stud in MLB!
- Mike Compton - was 2 years ahead of me in high school. Big, hulk of a human being. He went to star at WVu and then played with the Pats as center where he played in Super Bow XXXVI. Guy was chill and cool, partied with him many times during high school.
- Dick Vitale - I was studying to earn my CFA charter by attending a week long course in Denver about 4 years ago. After an all day session, I went to the lobby to find Dickie V hanging out. I approached him and chatted with him at great lengths. He was awesome as he made me feel like he really wanted to hear about the exam and certification. He chatted with us for 15 minutes and left when his wife arrived. I don't care what people think about him, he was the most human, sincere and entertaining indvidual I have met in terms of being famous.
- Terryy Bowden - I went to Tempe to attend the very first BCS Championship game between FSU-TN. My graduate roomate went to FSU so I hung out with Seminole alums the entire week. We drove to the Grand Canyon for the day and upon coming back, stopped at the IHOP. In the corner, about 3 tables away was Terry and his party. At this time, there were tons of rumors that Bobby was stepping down to let Terry take over as he left Auburn recently. My table went up and talked to him. He was entertaining and friendly and posed for a couple of photos. When asked if the rumors were true, he just said to stay tuned. It never happened, but it made us all feel as we were ahead of the curve in news. Very nice guy.
- Gene Stalllings - When we were in Tempe for the game, we stayed at the Hyatt in Scottsdale. Very nice resort and set up. Our next door neighbor was Gene Stallings who just gave us a nod and refused to talk as he always seemed to be in a hurry. Didn't matter, it was cool to stand a foot away from a great ball coach.
