  • Bonds blasts Costas after interview

    Don't shoot the messenger.

It's a phrase that Barry Bonds apparently isn't familiar with. After Curt Schilling told HBO's Bob Costas that Bonds' refusal to address steroids accusations were tantamount to an admission of guilt, what did Bonds do?
    He ripped Costas.

"You mean that little midget man who absolutely knows jack ... about baseball, who never played the game before?" Bonds said prior to Wednesday night's game against the Braves. "You can tell Bob Costas what I called him."

Bonds also denied even knowing Patrick Arnold, the BALCO chemist who created THG, the drug known as "the clear." Arnold had told Costas he found it "pretty hard to believe" Bonds didn't know what he was taking.

"I've never seen the man in my entire life," Bonds said of Arnold. "I've never heard of the man ... never."

I hate Schilling, but I agree with him, if any of these roid heads were actually innocent they would sue. What innocent person wouldn't sue?

Why did Bonds come after Costas? Did he say something about Bonds that I missed?

No, but he was interviewing guys about Bonds, so I see why he's pissed. Bonds wants the talk to die down, but it won't, ever.

Here's a question, if you were a baseball player, and you had two options a) a career minor leaguer, or b) a homerun hitting, rich, integrity of the game destroyer, roid ragging, superstar, which would you choose? The key word being rich.

Yea no shit. In option a) you have to go back to work for living when you turn 30, in option b) you just retire in a big mansion and read hate mail all day.

Obviously Bonds was going to be good anyway, without the roids, but some of those other players got huge contracts because of few good years.

I agree. Costas has always been one of my favorite reporters.

I played division 1 college baseball right when the steriod era was heating up. I knew tons of guys that were doing them, and I heard whispers of all kinds of future MLB players doing them.

Yes. I also had a bunch of friends that played at other division 1 schools, UCLA, Standford etc. and they all said the same thing. It was well known. I'm positive the owners, managers, and Bud Selig knew this was going on.
