Thanks guys I have comcast (cable) 2 hd boxes and HBO costs me 90$ a month!!!!Was thinking about changing to a dish if it would be worth while still have not Made up my mind!!!NFL Ticket sounds nice but they say dishes are so much cheaper NOT INCLUDING NFL than cable and it really is not after you add all the extra costs!!!!!HD BOXS, Local channels ,Extra attenna, so on and so on.....I thought both Dish network and direct TV offer NFL!!!

I Agree with 10 dime 239.00 for NFL is EXPENSIVE!!

They try to suck you in with a great rate for like the first 4 months than stick it to you after That!!!

Just thought i might be able to save a few bucks but i guess it might not Happen!!!!Almost 100 BUCKS A MONTH TO WATCH TV!! ADD on blockbuster a few times FUCK!!!!!

the NFL Package is also for only 17 days a year. Most games play at the same time on those days too. I don't think it is worth it. The MLB Package is much better at $149. You get games for 6 months (180 days).

i agree with wayne. mlb/nba is much more value for your $$$$ i mean nfl you have to have 12 TV's to watch all the games on any given sunday. thats why i go to the bar and watch them all for free, plus mlb/nba i can pick and choose games and its every single night.

ps. 2000 channels is cool only thing is alot of them are duplicate channels or west coast feeds of same channels. all in all i prolly have like 600 or so diff channels. spark would love it cause i got like 5 diff history channels and a ton of news channels....lol

[QUOTE=harold_bush]Dish actually has considerably more HD channels. They purcahsed all the VOOM channels, and there are somehtin glike 24/27 HD channels. DirectTv has maybe half that.

Direct is god awful in my book. I had one of the worst experiences ever with that company. I was with Dish (non HD) for years. When I bought the plasma I decided to give Direct a try for one reason. They had a 30 day trial where you could cancel the service with no questions asked. I spent $400 to get their HD/DVR box, and confirmed on at least 7 occasions with 7 different reps that I would get this $400 HD/DVR expense back, and that I would get my locals in HD.

LIES on both ends. After installing the box I realized my locals werent HD. I called and was told that the HD/DVR box wasn't capable of getting the locals. YOu could get hte locals in HD with their free box, just not the "upgraded" HD/DVR box I spent $400. Yeah, makes a lot of sense.

After learning this I of course decided to cancel b/c the locals is about half the reason for getting HD. So I go to cancel and guess what, they tell me I can't get a refund of teh $400 I spent on the box. It was just the programmin I could cancel. I spent at least 20 hours on the phone (probably 19 hours on hold) and spoke to about 12 people along the food chain. I explained THEIR reps told me I would get a refund of the $400 before I agreed to sign up. Well, they don't care what their reps said, no refund.

I decided to call Direct back and this time recorded the conversations. I called 9 times, and ALL 9 times their reps said (on tape) that the HD/DVR box does get the locals in HD (Lie #1) and that I would get a full refund of my $400. 9 tries, 9 times!! I called back and s/w one of the higher ups and played the tapes. Their response? Not sorry, but they told me I shouldn't have recorded their conversations. After telling them to fuck themselves and that in Georgia it is legal to record conversations, they STILL told me sorry no refund. After spending another 10 hours I finally got them to refund my money.

The final straw is that we just got the bill in, and they tried to charge me another $187 for the programming I canceled within their free 30 day trial. They finally waived this after another hour on the phone.

This shit happens to me all the time with cable I will get a call to add a channel for 5 bucks a month for 6 months when i get my bill it has gone up 13 WTF .. i call to cancel within the 6 months and sure as shit month 7 they are charging me 16.99 a month for the channel .......What bothers me the most is my bill is never the same NEVER I have to watch this shit like a hawk!!!!I spend hours a month on the phone, half on hold and the other half fighting about why they can take away my Channels yet my bill keeps going UP!!!!

                      $239 divided by 17 weeks = $14.05 per week!!
But then again, I think that all of the sports packages are well worth the payments. Just make your first wager the amount of your programming (MLB,NFL,NBA,CFL,etc.) and you will not owe anything after you win.

I have to say that my best friend owns a satellite company and does all of my installations. He explained that there are different connections (the piece that connects the dish and the cable cord) on the dish that may affect the signal. I very RARELY ever have our system go out. I
Am I the longest tenured BC member?

Harold, if this ever happens again to you or to anyone, use your VISA card to pay the merchant. Then, when the VISA bill comes, do not pay that part of your bill and enclose a note saying you are DISPUTING the Direct TV charge, or whoever, and why. It's also a good idea to call your bank too, so you will know if you did everything right to dispute the charge and won't have any surprises later. What happens next is, if VISA thinks you have a dispute, they do the work to get the cable company to take that amount off of your cable bill. When VISA agrees with you and the merchant still won"t credit you for the charge, VISA pays the bill for you. I think you have to have a Platimum Card or better, for them to get involved, but call them to find out and also to see if they still handle disputes this way. I only had one dispute ever and it was with Amtrack for $198, when they wouldn't give us what I paid for. It took almost three months but VISA took the charge off of my VISA bill.

I've had DISH TV for three years, after having Comcast cable. I pay $121 a month for everything they have that is not Pay per view, including 29 HD channels. I get all the ESPN and NBA packages which does cost me extra, but hell, some of us bet that much on a single game. I will never go back to cable. For one thing, DISH has a package of 5 superstations from around the country (2 from NYork, 1 each from LA, Boston and Denver) for $5 a month. Everyone can get this package, if they want. I'm also getting the network stations from New York, Atlanta and Los Angles. That means I'm getting the NFL games from those cities too as part of my $121 a month. You have to live where you cannot get your local network stations over the air to get the distant network channels. If I had cable instead of DISH, I would not be able to get any of these distant channels.
