I really don't understand Saturday's World Cup Lines?

What I meant was that the game continues to be played for the full 30 minutes. If a team scores in the first 5 minutes of extra time the game does not end, it used before, but not anymore. It's still called a Golden Goal, meaning it's just the winning goal. The full 30 minute must be played even if a goal is scored. It is not a sudden death format!!

So if someone scores in one of the 15 minute periods, it isn't over and the other team can score to tie it? I did not know that and it really doesn't make any sense???? Every O.T. in our sports mean a score and the game is OVA!

Soccer is not our sport....lol. They used to have it as a sudden death format but changed it as it was not good for the game. But now the full 30 minutes of extra must be played regardless of a goal being scored. I believe it was like that at the Euro 2004 Championship as well when Greece won it. I am 99.99% sure of this rule. Can another soccer mind please confirm this so the board knows the full rules???

Article 17
1. Each match shall last 90 minutes, comprising two periods of 45
minutes, with an interval of 15 minutes in between.
2. If, in accordance with the provisions of these Regulations, extra time
is to be played as the result of a draw at the end of normal playing
time, it shall always consist of two periods of 15 minutes each, with
an interval of fi ve minutes at the end of normal playing time, but not
between the two periods of extra time.
3. If the score is level after extra time, penalty kicks will be taken to
determine the winner, in accordance with the procedure described in
the Laws of the Game.
4. Clocks in the stadium showing the length of time played may run
during the match, provided that they are stopped at the end of normal
playing time in each half, i.e. after 45 and 90 minutes respectively. This
stipulation shall also apply if extra time is played (i.e. after 15 minutes
of each half).
5. At the end of the two periods of normal playing time (45 and 90
minutes), the referee shall indicate to the fourth offi cial, either orally
or by gesturing with his hands, the number of minutes that he has
decided to allow for time lost. This also applies to the two periods of
15 minutes of extra time. Each allowance for time lost shall be shown
on the panels or electronic display boards of the fourth offi cial.
6. If, through force majeure, a match is abandoned and therefore
cannot be played in its entirety, the Organising Committee for the
FIFA World Cup™ shall decide whether the match result at the time of
abandonment is valid or whether a replay shall be organised, taking
sporting and organisational considerations into account.
7. If, through force majeure, a match is cancelled before the start of
the match, the Organising Committee for the FIFA World Cup™ shall
decide whether the match can be rescheduled, taking sporting and
organisational considerations into account, or whether any other action
and decision is needed to continue with the competition. Any disciplinary
sanctions resulting from the cancelled match shall remain in force.
8. No appeals may be lodged against decisions stated in Art. 17 par. 6
and 7.

In Extratime...... Soccer plays the whole 30 mins. Two 15 min Halftime.

Teams can score as many goals as they like. If the game is tied after that time. They goto Penalty kicks
