fans are fickle.....He is still one of the best players in baseball......he is going through a rough patch at the moment.....His stats against the red sox and mets are not very good i agree, but he is a formidable player...one of the best in the game.....We could say the same about bonds....He does not show up in the playoffs either.....

The biggest joke in my opinion is seeing the Yanks second in the betting odds at +450 to win the WS.
If this was any other team but the Yankees and without the Yankee's history behind them, they would be at around 10-1 to win it all.
If some one offered them at even money to me to just make the playoffs, I doubt I would take it especially with the loss of two key players.

If they Braves can collapse like they have, it certainly is within the realm of possibility that Yanks might not make it this year or for that matter the Red Sox either.
There are some hungry teams out there, and the runnerup in the AL East is not a shoo-in for the wildcard.
Toronto is a force to be reckoned one, ewven though they can't defeat an NL team to save their lives.
It is a long season, and I think the last month of the season will be real exciting this year to see who gets in.
