Molta, did you watch Varitek try to catch him last year? He can't catch the knuckleball! He was worse than Bard! That is why Mirabelli did it, not because he needed a rest! When Mirabelli was hurt last year, Varitek tried and failed miserably...I believe they brought up Shoppach, who they traded to Cleve this year for Coco....

I'm not saying that Varitek could do a good job catching him (couldnt be any worse than Bard, but thats not the point), I am just saying that he could have stepped up. If he wasn't the Captain, I probably wouldn't mention it. But everyone makes such a big deal about him and being the Captain and his leadership, and he didnt show any of it in this situation.
