this is totally off the subject perhaps but for what Bonds and all his steroid bros get paid....how much scratch would a Babe Ruth or Mickey Mantle demand in todays market?....is godzillion a word?

the most encouraging thing about this whole thread is that I can see that there are other sports fans out there that appreciate the good old days before things like free agency and making new rules came along and ruined the game or to pump up offensive stats...the most disturbing thing I can think of during the "Age of Steroiods" is that in all probibilty the turd commissioner and league officials likely knew about the steroid use all along but chose to turn their heads to it thinking they were pumping new life into a game that has survived for over 100 years....plus the extra $$$$ probably had them looking the other way as well...pathetic. I throw Bud Seiling right in there with steroid cheaters....

fact is BONDS is an ASS. MCQUIRE SOSA, PALMIERO ETC... WERE ALL CHEATS TOO BUT THEY HAVE GONE BYE BYE. BONDS IS STILL HERE. NOW AFTER SOSA AND PALMIERO GOT OFF THE JUICE THEY WERE EMBARRASSING PLAYERS BASED ON THE NUMBERS. BONDS WONT BREAK HANKS RECORD ...HE JUST ISNT HEALTHY ENUFF AND WITH OUT THE JUICE IT SEEMS LIKELY HIS NUMBERS WILL FADE BIG TIME. To try and compare as to who would win, the Old Yankees vs the New YAnkees, is virtualy impossible, but to say which team I would rather go watch, and bring my family to, is the "Old Guys Games".......

I'd love nothing more than watch the 1927 Yanks at Yankee stadium. IMO that was by far the greatest team in baseball history.

Bonds is on pace to hit less than 25 homers. Hmmmm I wonder why his total is so low.

There is absolutely no wiggle room for cheating of any kind in our great sport of baseball ... America's pastime ... or of course in any sport for that matter.

The MacGuires ... The Bonds ... The Palmieros ... all add up to dog shit because they cheated. Some of them lied to the grand jury ... and that's perjury.

I don't know where these Jabronis come from but here in America we take a dim view in the matter of misrepresenting one's self when told to testify.

And how about marginal ball players who amped up to be a starting player on a team ? They STOLE from other teammates and deprived them of livelihood for their wives and children.

Bad idea to compare Bonds' steroid stats to Ruth....I believe someone compiled a stat that if Ruth had hit in today's little league ball parks, he would have had over 900 homers. All the new parks and old ones have moved there fences in from the old days. Ruth also pitched for 5 years.

As far as steroids go...Hell yes I care that they take them. The athletes should be on the same level playing field. No steroids in baseball....PERIOD!

I say, make every one of these prima donna's pee in a cup several times a year, just like they do in the Tour De France. There should be zero tolerance when it comes to steroids. Make them take constant random tests and they all will quit and the stats they get will be REAL stats, not some tainted, steroid bullshit......
