Boss blasts A-Rod, Yanks after loss to BoSoxESPN.com news services

It didn't take long for The Boss to get mad about the Yankees' 14-3 loss to the Red Sox on Tuesday.

According to New York media reports, a clearly angry George Steinbrenner left Yankee Stadium in the eighth inning. Later, he vented his frustration to a group of reporters.

When asked what he thought of the game, Steinbrenner said, "What did you think of the game?" He then jabbed his fingers at reporters and repeated, "What did you think?"

Steinbrenner avoided singling out Randy Johnson, who gave up seven runs and five walks in 3 2/3 innings.

"I'm upset at a lot of them," he said, before adding, "The third baseman."

Alex Rodriguez made a pair of errors at third base and 21-year-old Melky Cabrera, brought up when Gary Sheffield went on the disabled list before the game, dropped a fly to right field by Ramirez for a two-run error. New York, which allowed six unearned runs, had 12 errors coming in, tied for the second-fewest in the majors.

"Overall we just had an awful game. I had a real bad game," Rodriguez said.

Steinbrenner's mood was in stark contrast to his attitude before the game, when he said he expected the Yankees to play well against the Red Sox.

Thats just how competitive he is.. George wants to win every game plain and simple.. As far as pitching goes we will get one before the trading deadline watch and see.. Like Wayne said the other day the Yanks will go hard after Dontrell Willis..

They can go as hard as they want...once Clemens goes to Houston, it will be the BoSox and NYY for Dontrelle and the yankees don't have the prospects the BoSox do. If Dontrelle goes anywhere, it will be the Sox.

Nothing better than last night- A-Rod looking like a minor leaguer, Cabrera looking like he plays for the Bad News Bears, Bernie with 3K's and getting tossed, RJ looking like the washed up pitcher he is and the Boss poppin' off...gotta love it!

The difference between you and me is that you like to talk shit about your teams...I don't as I am a realist. I don't have the same bravado/confidence that you do. I don't think my team has enough pitching to get there. They have enough to win their division and maybe enough to win a round in the playoffs, but not enough to beat STL. And I don't think your team has as much pitching as the Mets do. You won't win games 9-8 all year (see last year). But GL to you....

If I got publicly called out by my boss like that, my motivation would be in the crapper, and this tactic has not worked in past years either, Mussina also due for a loss

Remeber how the use to call Mickelson the 'Best Golfer to Never Win A Major'? Mussina is the 'Best Pitcher to Never Win 20' (not to mention the highest paid).

its not the yankees fault that the Mets ownership are cheapskates, they only just opened their wallets the past 2 years(PS, I am a yankee and Met fan)
