Sad day as we lost a great player who is probably the most loved athlete here in Minnesota. I have a lot of great memories watching him play and how he was loved by his teamates and the fans.

Man any other Minnesota people around my age (26) can identify with just how hard and sad this is. The guy was like a michael jordon to minnesota kids. I gained a love and respect for playing baseball solely from watching him on tv. My dad clearly remembers me staying up at night and practicing his swing, and the warm up chop half-swings he would take before the pitch came. He played the game with so much passion. I don't care what I find out about him and his personality off the field. That man was a personal inspiration to me and this is truly a sad and somber day in Twins-land.
"we'll see you tommorrow night" -jack buck.....cant stop hearing those words....kirby carried the twins to game 7. great memories from a stand out guy!
4 OLD KIRBY! SAD DAY FOR HIS FAMILY 44 YEARS WOW............WAS HIS WEIGHT A FACTOR?..........U CAN HAVE EVERYTHING IN THE WORLD,BUT WITHOUT YOUR HEALTH DOESNT MEAN A THING,,,RIP KIRBY.......
an example of a person that doesn't let any of the physical attributes of an athlete affect how successful he is on the field. If you have a fire burning hot enough that you cant sit still you can be successful at anything.

bover i am pretty sure weight was an issue.....strokes are generally caused by high blood pressure, which in turn is caused by being obese among other things......Think about a garden hose when you put your thumb over the end of it....it increases the pressure....same thing in your arteries, veins and blodd vessels....except when they weaken over time they eventually give out (aneurysm) it can be fatal.....a bleed in the brain causes intense pressure as there is no where for this blood to go since it causes so much pressure.....Sorry for being long winded, but my guess is that it was a large factor
