Yes, he is a great fielder by any stretch (even though he led the majors in outfield assists) and he doesn't always run out ground balls.
With that said, the guy is an ICON up here and people trip over themselves to get near and cheer him. He is also a true character and he can keep the team loose with his jokes like holding up a sign in left saying Welcome to the mannny show.
Not only that, if he's gone Ortiz losing that GREAT protection behind him along with his best friend on the team as they are very close. That wouldn't be good.
We understand up here what you get with Manny. Do we want him to stop staring into space out in left or run out every ground ball? Sure, but people just LOVE watching him play up here because he is a Hall of Famer and he is truly fun to watch at bat. People treat Manny like a kid up here and it's pretty funny but to say this guy is by any means unliked would be stretching it.
If Manny finished his career here he would have his number next to Ted Williams and he will forever have Ray Bourque, Larry Bird, Roger Clemens, and Tom Brady type of stature up here!Comment

yeah and i feel for me too. Cause i know his brother dave dont know chit about football and his dad is rich and could just buy a ticket to the game if he wanted to go.
