Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - LSU starting quarterback JaMarcus Russell will reportedly miss the December 30 Peach Bowl against ninth-ranked Miami-Florida due to a shoulder injury.
According to The Miami Herald, Russell did not accompany the No. 10 Tigers to Atlanta and will not make the trip later this week.
Russell separated his non-throwing shoulder in the SEC Championship against Georgia on December 3 and was forced to leave the game due to the injury. The sophomore signal-caller was replaced in the game by third-year sophomore Matt Flynn, who will make his first career start in the Peach Bowl.
In 12 games this season, Russell ended 188-of-311 for 2,443 yards with 15 touchdowns and nine interceptions while also adding two rushing scores.
The paper also reported that the Hurricanes will be without a major offensive weapon, as wide receiver Ryan Moore has been suspended for violating team policy. Moore had 28 catches on the year for 464 yards and four touchdowns.
