These totals should be the all time nightmare for books and bettors combined in the first game or two matchups. The Nets sure are rested and they are healthy.....but look at the SAC/MAV series.......SAC was rested and the MAVS were stressed to the MAX and no gas in the tank after game 7's win to get the KINGS. With a healthy Webber the Kings demolished and embarrassed them....then rest for the Mavs......and the scoring and running legs returned.......I say take the Spurs in the first round assuming the spread are not GROSSLY overweighted and an early point and half to the Nets looks like a drool shot but road FAVORITES can be an early money grave.....may go small on this one! ***-I wouldn't refer to it as a great call on my part because as stated I did not take the 7 1/2 odds(If i knew Webber was going to be hurt in game 2, I would have but so would everyone else).
Personally, I like Spurs in next series only because traditionally in all sports, whether it be baseball, football, basketball or hockey, usually the best defense (in baseball pitching)prevails.
In addition sometimes momentum feeds on itself as we have seen with underdogs Anaheim and Minn. both last year in baseball and now in Hockey also.
However, as you well know the Vegas line is factored into what many times is the general perception;thus when you say Spurs are -400, it takes a lot of value out of betting them;one could almost make a case for Dallas in same way I did after they lost game 1 to SA.
What happens for instance if something happens to Duncan in an early game and say you are stuck with giving 4-1 odds?.
In any event the next series should be fun and I will be awaiting your analysis.
