49ers are that bad. Plus they traded Rattay to the Bucs so if Alex Smith goes down or is really struggling, I don't know who would be their backup.

Question to the board about an NFL line this week????

I think the Skins are way over-rated. Yes the 49ers are terrible, but, and that's a Roseanne Barr big butt, this is the NFL, and anyone can win on any given Sunday, except when the 49ers played the Colts, there was no way they were gonna win that game. Alex Smith now has one game under his belt, which is nothing, but still, it's better then none, and the Niners are coming off a bye week, so some of their injured players might be back. They have some good defensive players. Anyway, with all that said, I still like the Redskins to win, but I wouldn't be so sure there won't be a backdoor cover. Tease it down with other games, that's my two cents.

sounds like Portis was beat up pretty good in the KC game...so SF has that going for them
WASH pass attack is alot better than I ever thought it would be as I would normally be concerned about them putting up the points to cover
If Portis is good to go, I think the line can be covered at -12.5

I have the line at Redskins -18.5, making it the biggest differential (6.5) of the week for a favorite. Most difs are 1-3 points. Last week's biggest dif for a fave was Seattle vs Houston and we know what happened their (btw, Indy-HOU dif this week is 3-4).
I've got Washington better in 13 out of 15 key statistical categories, making it a mismatch. The 49ers are better in Net Turnovers and in Penalties (#2 most disciplined team in the NFL by that standard).
In addition to that mismatch numbers, the Redskins are at home off two losses so they should be very focussed and execute well, all the more against a significantly weaker team.
The 49ers stink all the way around. If they have good defensive players, I'd hate to see how bad they play defensively if they had bad ones.
Washington actually has the #3 ranked Offense in the League in Total Yardage gained. But their tendancy to turn the ball over has killed their scoring.
Speaking of turning the ball over, Washington comes home having been (-) in turnovers in each of their last 5 games, which means you want to look in their direction and not go against them.
Teams that have been minus in the Turnover Category 4 games straight and are playing at home (last week they played on the road) is a pretty strong play but I do not have the numbers.
This season their have been 2 plays:
RAVENS (-6) 16, Browns 3
PACKERS (minus whatever) 52, Saints 3
This week there are two games:
REDSKINS
RAMS
To give you an idea of how bad the 49ers are, last week they were outyarded by 188 yards. So? So they actually played 56 yards ABOVE their season average! Wow. That's bad.
In thier only two road games this season, the Niners were outyarded by 441 yards (at Philly) and 295 yards (at Ari). That's not how much yardage they ALLOWED, that's their NET YARDAGE.
The Redskins have flown under the radar because of their w/l record and points for/points against. But they are a solid team that I have ranked #9.
Here's the Breakdown in Rank in different categories (factoring in strength of schedule):
points for
SFO 28
WAS 23
points against
SFO 31
WAS 7
pass offense
SFO 29
WAS 9
pass defense
SFO 32
WAS 6
rush offense
SFO 27
WAS 6
rush defense
SFO 19
WAS 7
total offense
SFO 32
WAS 3
total defense
SFO 32
WAS 5
penalties (meaning the higher the rank, the less penalized)
SFO 2
WAS 10
net points
SFO 31
WAS 16
net yards
SFO 32
WAS 2
net turnovers
SFO 26
WAS 31
win factor (weighted for most recent performance)
SFO 31
WAS 19
Yards Per Pass Attempt
SFO 29
WAS 16
Yards Allowed Per Pass Attempt
SFO 32
WAS 5
I'm passing on the game. San Fran is off losses of 25 points and 17 points and the Redskins despite the statistical mismatch numbers are not a team I am prepared to lay double digits with. If 49ers had not been beaten so bad in each of their last two games, I might lay the wood. It's a pass for me. Hope that helps.

The 49ers are that bad. Their defense and offenseive line are riddled with injuries. I watched the rookie QB when he played most of the second half against the Colts and he was sacked 5 times in just that time. There is no blocking for him and I can't see why anything will be different this week. 13.5 points is only two touchdowns. You saw how fast the Colts got TD's once Martin was in at QB for St. Louis. I know the Skins are not the Colts so how about the Niners losing by 17 to Arizona in Mexico.

Great post dave . Please don't get my post wrong y'all, I think the Niners are the worst team in the NFL by far, too many injuries, and throwing a rookie QB to the wolves was a horrible mistake, I just always worry about a meanless backdoor cover in a double digit game. I'm teasing the Skins with a few games this week.
