  • Is anyone watching the news conference with the Umps?

I'm watching the post game news conference with the home plate ump on ESPN news. First, I'd like to give cudos to the league for making the ump face the media.

That being said it is very obvious he's lying thru his teeth.

Was it me or was that ump stuttering all over himself? He was so full of shit.

          It's a first for me.

Jerry Crawford was also full of shit.

To say the ball changed direction is a fucking lie. I didn't bet the game. I didn't even watch the game. I turn on ESPN news and happened to catch the replays.

            I agree.

Call me crazy but before i saw the umps press conference i was watching several replays and the more they blew it up the more i thought i did see it change directions and possibly skip or get trapped. I know it's crazy but i was thinking that when they were showing the blown up images ......... than the umps say the same thing! I think it was closer than people think.

Jerry Crawford looked like that was the LAST place he wanted to be!

It was very close. Personally I don't think it was trapped. IMO the ball was in the pocket of the glove.

Still you can't deternine a game like that.

Maybe the baseball gods are looking over the shoulder of Chicago.

I thought it was CLEARLY caught too BUT after seeing the blown up - Close up from center field, it's very weird. Something happens to the ball before it hits the glove.

You know the UMPs on the field didn't think it was trapped. Certainly not the home plate ump. It's a shitty way to lose a game.

Why didn't one reporter ask Eddings to explain the difference in his "mechanics"? What was the 1st arm wave and the 2nd fist (out?) I get my Orioles tickets from both him and Rapuano. Both blew it!!!!
                        Pre-ban 1-0 (+1.00)
                        Post ban 6-4 (+3.90)

1st arm wave (hitter did not make contact.)
2nd fist (ump called it a strike) did not call him out.
Watching it live i thought it hit the ground too.

Guys, I disagree w/ you completely...mostly on what the ump called...I still play baseball & I can tell you that a ball coming up to the plate at 85-95 MPH, you don't have much time at all to react...low ball like that, I would guess most umps call the strike, verbalize OUT if they think it wasn't in dirt...if he thought he didn't catch it, he makes his motion as he did in previous innings...

The catcher is to blame & the batter gets the kudo's for being smart...

As for your opinion of how they acted during interview...like you said it's never been done & I'd agree...Vegas usually doesn't want their men in blue being talked to...LOL...BUT tell me in this situation & given the SPOT LIGHT, AND that they never have given an interview based on their calls...wouldn't you be a bit nervous???????

YES, you would...so I think your way off...IMO

Bad call or not, calls worse than this are made every day in the Pros...regardless of sport...and it's RARE that the umps/refs are even questioned...look at the FINES given out to coaches & players for making comments after games about calls...it's just not done...why these Umps were interviewed is BEYOND me...Vegas behind it, I'm SURE OF IT...HA!

Anyway, had to throw this out there...
                            FUCK YOU, FUCK ME
