      First things First....

I realize that I may end up regretting this.....

Gentlemen, please take this thread seriously.

We, myself included, goof off on a daily basis in a lot of threads on a lot of various different topics, and that's fine. BUT this is something that is affecting people's bankrolls, reputations, and money. Please do not turn this thread into another thread that is full of bullshit. Some feel very passionate about this topic, myself included, and would like to see the problem solved. Thank you

Those are both reasons to really make me stress out when these games are happening.
This is exactly what I stated in another thread Wayne..... if people do not understand the stress of putting the GOY tag on a play then they do not understand capping and the integrity that we are trying to keep behind it.

Right on Brother! If you can put a GOY tag on a play and you're not sweating when you do it.......... It shouldn't be done!

< I would be willing to bet that all the people who use the term weekly are young and immature gamblers with bad money management. The older ones who have been doing this awhile (15-20 years) know better! >

There are some guys, not all, who post GOY's for attention. You can generally tell that they are young by all the misspellings and instant messenger verbiage. This is what's bullshit. Some 15 year old kid thinks it's cool to put out a GOY on every other post and doesn't think that some guy bets a lot of hard earned money on his less than thought-out selection. And I bet there are a lot who do bet them. That's just wrong. And when it loses, the guy who posted it just moves on to the next GOY. A person like that NEEDS to be held accountable. If it takes some hard scolding, maybe he'll think twice about it next time. Those are the guys that need to be hammered.

This is NOT the case for everyone here. There are a few who put them out on a very selective basis. It's up to the guys who know the site well to weed out the one's that are being idiots from the one's who know what they are doing. I personally would want to know who is who. And if there is a GOY from a respected member, then I'd want to know what his play is...Just my 2 cents

              PODs???

I was also thinking about the subject of PODs and I'd like to get some other opinions on this.

I personally like the PODs. Not like a GOY, but PODs are simply just that. In that cappers opinion the most solid play they see on the board and accordingly thier biggest wager for the day. For example and the most extreme cases are Chuck's POD and the Kaptain's POD. I, personally want to know what their biggest play is, in case I would like to follow them for that day (and usually I do).

As stated before, looking for others opinions on the subject of PODs..... ONE Play of the Day..... ONE!

good thread guys. i'm a true believer that there should be 1 GOY. not 1 GOY for every conference, just 1 GOY for each SPORT

I'd like to make one more comment on this subject and it's an idea......

Rather than ban everyone from posting GOY's, which works for some but not others, why not make it manditory for everyone to post their GOY records? That way, if you're making GOY's all the time and you stink at it, members will know to stay away. You can't lie about a crappy record and if you do have a crappy record, it might make you think twice about making another GOY.

If you don't post your record, you may lose privelidges or have your post deleted by a mod. Any thoughts. Seems like the best solution to me without banning GOY's.

Kazdog, Who's job would it be to track all the GOY plays and make sure all your rules apply? It sounds good but it is virtually impossible to do or track!

Seems like there are a lot of people here who make it a point to keep other people honest on this board. Since GOY's are so rare, it seems like it wouldn't be too hard to remember or keep track. And since some make a GOY 3 times a week, that wouldn't be hard to track either. There are only a handful who actually have the nads to make GOY's. It would be a little difficult, but I think it's possible. Maybe I'm wrong....

I agree that the term Game of Year is SINGULAR. There is no reason people should be putting out multiple GOY's. It's totally fine to call it a POW or a POM, it's just basic logic people!!

                              Or,

How about a three month or whatever the length, GOY thread? Everyone who has one, which shouldn't be many, posts them there? At the end of the period, the thread is deleted or a new one started....

                                Wayne...

I saw your POD thread.... I remember that thread as well, but that's not what I was talking about. Kind of, but not exactly.

I was talking about within capper's individual plays, labeling a play POD, so everyone knows that they particular play is the biggest of that day for that individual capper. I was wondering how others feel about that label.... I take it seriously as well, but not as seriously as a label that should be used once every 365 days...
