Why there is NO such thing as a Sure Thing

Thought I'd share this with you fella's.

I played an 8 player tennis parlay. I wagered $40 to win $390. I like picking seeded players because they are usually very consistent. 7 players came through with flying colors. The list is as follows.....

[2001] DOMINIK HRBATY -315
[2008] ARNAUD CLEMENT -350
[2009] MARK PHILIPPOUSSIS -105
[2011] RICHARD GASQUET -255
[3002] LINDSAY DAVENPORT -1900
[3003] ANASTASIA MYSKINA -270
[3012] NADIA PETROVA -195

All I needed was Justine Henin Hardenne at -2000 to beat some hack named Flavia Pennetta in the first round of the Porsche Tourney. Basically, the only close to a sure bet I had on the parlay. You guessed it, Hardenne was whipped like a red headed step child in straight sets.

Just a little lesson to you young fella's. There is NO sure thing in betting....

A tough lesson for me. What's worse is that having Hardenne on that parlay probably was only worth an extra $10 or so on the $390 win. What a bitch, literally and figuratively.

You're right, it was a stupid thing to do for someone who's been gambling for a long time. It's a tough lesson learned and why I posted this thread.

You know the sure ones are always the losers when I play parlay it is the
"no way this team will lose to these dumb f-cks"
pick that always kills it for me. So I had sworn off those Sure wins in any parlay and I do better now

I honestly thought, as I was making the parlay, why am I putting Hardienne in this thing? But for some stupid reason I did it anyway. Just like putting Davenport in there. It won't happen again, I can tell you that. Until I brain freeze again, of course...

dude I had almost the exact same parlay and she screwed me too.... it was $10 to win back like $134 or somethin like that.... all other 7 hit except her and I dont even know tennis.

well as MOONDOG put it she was injured recently and has nt been the same since..... just wish I knew something about tennis and/or spoke to him a little sooner..... coulda even taken a shot with the other chick or someone else.... oh well we live to bet another day
