  • Dumb Question-Part 2

Inasmuch as my question yesterday seemed to draw a good deal of interest and responses, I thought I would pose another one.
This one is pretty far fetched and yet I think the answers might give us all an insight into how important gambling is in our lives.
    Anyways the question is this:
Lets say that today somehow a millionaire or higher power from the hereafter contacted you and asked you this-how much money is the MINIMUM amount you would take in order for you to stop sports gambling for 5 years starting from the time you received the money(which would be today), and obviously there was no question that you would receive the money if you agreed.
The bet would mean you could not bet with your local, offshore, wife, friend or in any way in which money was on the line no matter how little it was.
Lets be a little more absurd and say that somehow if you agreed to the terms, it would be impossible for you to cheat(don't ask me to elaborate on how this would be possible, as I cannot).
So in short, please state the amount required for your for the 5 years or perhaps say you wouldn't the offer at all because you feel the need to gamble.
I will respond with my own answer later;I have to think about this one myself. lol
ps It goes without saying that after the 5 years, you could return to gambling.

$10,000 a month should do it. That's a total of $600,000. Oh what the hell, I would settle for just $5,000 a month. That would be a total of $300,000 and would be enough to change my lifestyle, being able to afford things I can't afford now. I would like to travel more and this extra money would allow for that. And I'll just switch from sports betting to PLAYING THE STOCK MARKET. Stock opitions. Penny stocks. This could be more fun than sports betting. And if I really need more action, how about oil futures. Wow, what action there. The stock markets are not as honest as sports betting, but will do very nicely as a substitude for sports gambling.

I know Savage. I just defeated what you are really asking. Throw out the stock market and I would still settle for an extra 5 dimes a month.

I make about $300,000.00 a year gambling which equals $1.5 Million. Add in 6 trips each year to Vegas where i make about $100,000.00 each time and that's another $3 Million. Considering the time it would save me from traveling and handicapping my games i would be willing to take $4 Million even instead of the $4.5 Million i would normally earn. My Beamers need gas and with the prices going up there i really couldn't settle for any less!

      Thanks,

      RJ

I'm not pulling much money in but the entertainment value I would put a tag of about $50,000 a year for say $250,000 to stop for five years. I would miss my basketball brackets the most I think.

            little or maybe nowager

If I were smart, I'd give the millionaire $500 and quit.

500K- 100k a year because the entertainment value of betting a game on a boring day is almost priceless

On any other day other than today, I'd probably say around $250,000 for the 5 years, but I just lost another Aunt today, 2nd one in 5 months so all of a sudden it just seems so unimportant in the whole aspect of life.

My condolences go out to you and your family RJ;sometimes life seems so unfair and unjust;try to keep the faith, although I know in times like this it is difficult.
