Hey Rook - my wife and I made a donation to the Red Cross (before I saw this post) while watching CNN last night. I don't know if you want to count it to your total or not...the important thing is anyone who can help, please help! Thanks rook for organizing this.

I'm from Louisiana and have family down there. Two of my cousins from New Orleans are taking refuge at my dad's house in Lake Charles Louisiana. I spoke with them this morning and both feel that their houses are pretty much gone. I have many other relatives in the New Orleans area. My plan is to try and help them directly. My niece, who is like a daughter and went to school at Denver University, was two blocks from the French quarter in her studio home when the storm hit. She got out yesterday and has moved in, with several of her friends in tow, to central Louisiana. The drive which normally takes three hours, took 13 hours. Fortunately, they were in a Humvee and were able to navigate the debris and water. A police officer along the way told them not to stop for anyone, as apparently there are fairly widespread shakedown's occurring. I think it is great what you guys are doing.

Goose, thanks for the post buddy. I'm glad to hear that all your family seems safe.

Just talked to Jimmy for about a half an hour, and everything that everyone has stated before is exactly what was told to me.

He's fine...and really requests that no prayers be sent his way....He would rather you direct them to those that really need it. Jimmy and his family were really spared, and he's very blessed.

He also told me to tell everyone thank you ahead of time for the donations that we're collecting this weekend. He said that it should go to the Red Cross because "they actually give a damn"....so that's what we're gonna do.

I hope we can make Jimmy proud with our efforts.

Already donated to braf.org.It is in Baton Rouge and has 2 funds set up,1 for helping displaced people and 1 for reconstruction.They take credit cards and are registered.All money goes directly for relief.

Thank you guys for all your doing, and I asked for this in my "The wonderful thing about tigger is" thread as well. I'm glad to see ya'll already had it going. I am trying to type through the tears that you men have cause at this point (and I never cry! Thank you gentlemen) Like Jimmy though, I, personally... nor my family, does not need it....

I fear that Dave (Warrior) does though.... has anyone heard from him yet? I PERSONALLY KNOW THAT HIS JOB WAS DESTROYED, and I don't know about his house, but I know he has a family with small children! If I may request that it be used for him, amongst the others that we can help...please consider that. Thank you for all that ya'll have done so far and much to come I'm sure, there is not a way for me to express my thanks right now.... I wish there was. Thank you!
