That's true (and obvious) but when you use save % that shows whether it's 10 games or 30, they still hold a lead more consistantly than anyone else when given the chance!

Pitchers making relief appearances for the Pirates this year have an ERA of 4.13, which ranks 14th in the majors and 6th in the NL. Cleveland has the top reliever ERA at 2.85 and Arizona has the worst at 5.70.

IMO these numbers are misleading due to the fact the pirates are going no where and there is less pressure on them to produce in tight situations!!!!!Put one of them on a contender !!!!!In a game that means something ....Who will be calling them come july 31 for bullpen help!!!!!!Not me.......Maybe MESA Maybe!!!!

The stat is based on CLOSING a game, not middle relief.

You can "Call It" misleading but teams 2-5 on that list are ALL in 1st place! That shows something for the stat and it's importance. I didn't say you had to like it but it is what it is and there is a reason why teams like Washington and the White Sox are having great years and on the list!

3. Anaheim
4. Washington
5. White Sox


It's not like it's cluttered up top with bad teams and in the closing role, Pitt. can hold their own with the Big Boys!
