            Sport: MLB - Baseball

Game: Tampa Bay Devil Rays @ Cincinnati Reds on Jun 9 2005 7:10PM

            Prediction: Cincinnati Reds

            Current Line: +140

            Over/Under: OVER 8 +100

Reason: We won with the Reds last night and will come right back with them again this evening as these two teams continue to exhibit extreme home/road dichotomies this season. Combined, the home team is now 77-38 SU in all Reds and Devil Rays games this year.

Tampa Bay is an awful 4-25 SU in all road games, including a miserable 3-24 as a road underdog this season. Tampa blew a lead last night and has now lost three straight close games which is a negative sign as the Devil Rays are just 5-32 SU on the road after a close loss by two runs or less the past two years.

            Play CINCINNATI!

                              Big Al 4 Pack

                              BIG AL'S 4-GAME BASEBALL BONANZA.
Our 4 selections include Florida, Arizona, Texas, and the 'over' in
                              the Washington/Oakland game.

Oakland/Washington 'over' -- At 7:05pm our selection is on Oakland at
Washington 'over' the total. Oakland starter Joe Blanton is just
downright awful. In over 55 innings pitched, he has a 1 - 5 record,
an ERA of 6.14 and a WHIP of 1.53. I tried to find a positive angle
for him and there simply isn't one. He clearly doesn't belong in a
major league rotation but neverless has avoided being sent down to
Sacramento due to an injury to staff ace Rich Harden. The Nats have
found ways to score runs lately and as a result find themselves in
first place in the NL east, the latest that a DC club has been on top
since 1933! This is the tenth game in their homestand, and 6 of the
previous 9 have gone a total of 9 runs or more. Take the 'over'.

Texas -- At 7:05pm our selection is on the Texas Rangers over the
Philadelphia Phillies. Just when you least expect it, Pedro Astacio
pops back up as a full-time starter on the Texas Rangers. After
appearing in only 5 games last year for the Red Sox, the Rangers have
resurrected the 36 year old veteran right hander and made him part of
their rotation this year. Astacio's season has been like a roller
coaster so far. He got off to a terrific start with three solid
outings to begin the year, then hit a VERY rough stretch, and now has
seemed to settle back down again. Indeed three of his last four
outings have been extremely strong, including his last start when he
limited KC to 2 earned runs in seven innings. His strikeout to walk
ratio is very good at almost 4 to 1. Phillies righty Vicente Padilla
has been a bit of a Jeckyll and Hyde himself. Miscellaneous injuries
have really limited his innings and in his last start, coming off of
a sore back, he only went 5 innings and faced 19 batters. So there's
a good chance the Phillies will have to go to their bullpen early in
this one, and that does not bode well as in the last three games,
their relievers have an ERA of 4.91. Padilla is also winless at night
(0 - 3) with an ugly ERA of 8.20 under the lights. Take Texas.

Florida -- At 7:05 pm, our selection is on the Florida Marlins. I
usually don't take teams at this price level (this is the highest
priced favorite I've had all season), but I'll make an exception
tonight as Florida falls into a great system of mine that wins at a
77% rate. Seattle has won just 25 of its previous 85 games as road
underdogs, and Josh Beckett's home ERA is a nifty 1.47 with a
sparkling 0.93 WHIP. Aaron Sele has been dreadful on the road (5.26
                              ERA), so take Florida.

Arizona -- At 9:40 pm, our selection is on the Arizona Diamondbacks,
as Arizona falls into a system of mine that has an effective win
percentage of 64 percent. Minnesota is batting just .245 on the road,
away from the hitter friendly confines of the Metrodome, while
Arizona is scoring 1 run per game higher at home (5.0) than on the
road (4.0) while hitting .269. Take Arizona. Good luck, as
always...Al McMordie. And don't miss my Interleague Game of the Year
today, or my NBA Winners. And I also have the Belmont Stakes winner
                              for you right now.
