Here's a tip that could be extremely helpful in honing your NFL handicapping skills ...

Watch the games with the audio MUTED ... it will help you compute what you are seeing for yourself without any outside influence bending your judgment. How can anyone concentrate on the game with an idiot like Cris Collinsworth giving you a fucking migrane ? You may feel a little lonely but who the hell cares ? You shouldn't.

Since 99.9% of every viewer is following the football itself it is imperative NOT to watch the ball. In the NFL games are won and lost with line play so focus on the offensive and defensive lines for both teams on every play. Pay careful attention to who's dominating the line of scrimmage. Make your own assessments . Even take notes !!! I've found this to be extremely effective tool over the years.

The NFL Sunday package is a must and try to see as many games as you can with the sound turned off ... and remember to go against the public's viewing habits.

Can't stand those 3 Stooges who do the Sunday Night ESPN NFL games ... Marv Albert here in NY is probably the worst ever ... Monotone Marv ... lol

I'll go out of my way to watch any game where Keith Jackson is doing the play by play .. nobody does it better.

But Hey ... that's me. lol
Thanks CB and good luck today. I'm with you too - Theisman absolutely SUCKS on Sunday night. I can't stand any of them but he's by far the worst.

Neil as you and many BC members know I never watch the games I bet. Aside from NFL football I rarely watch any sporting events anymore.

I agree with your statement 100%. I truly believe not watching the games makes me a better capper.

              ? For The 3WM

              CB et. al. -

Just a quick question for you since I was not here last year....with interleague play coming up this weekend do you weigh certain factors more heavily in your capping and do the American/National League differences make it easier or more difficult to cap effectively?

I'm not certain exactly of the level of interest that still exists in different parts of the US for these games (The Bay Area, NY, etc...) but it is still a big deal here in Chicago. I can't tell you how many times I've heard a drunk Sox fan at The Ballpark Formerly Known As Comiskey swearing at a 10 year old kid waiting in line to take a leak because he was wearing a Cubs jersey.

Oh Yeah .. Theisman is just awful ... MacGuire is no picnic either .. and that THIRD STOOGE should take 2 of his fingers and poke them both in the eyes.

Ever notice how ESPN announcers LOVE Louisville Quarterbacks ? It's sickening !!!

                Dave Ragone

                Stefan LeFors

                Brian Brohm

                DOG SHIT !!!

Watch how they make a fuss this year over Brohm ... it's a joke.

Coverboy-its funny. My entire night depended on the outcome of the Red Sox game also. I had them in straight and in a parlay and it made my night.
I was watching the game on tv(Nesn), and when they rallied to win, I couldn't have cared less who was announcing(unless it was Phil Schtool lol).

Yeah I could imagine its pretty wild by you in Chicago .... here too in NY .

No there is no special treatment given to handicapping the Interleague games . We have our Power Ratings, we match em up factoring in the starting pitchers, and send the games your way.

We try not to overthink and it's a beautiful thing that none of us 3 Wise Men will ever become fans of any particular team. We're not involved emotionally ... that can be an expensive mistake.

Thanks CB. Just curious. While I am a big Cubs fan, I have no problems fading them (like today and yesterday) or playing on the Sox when my bankroll is involved.

Here in Milwaukee, I like to turn the tv OFF so I don't have to actually see the Brewers. I just listen to Uecker on the radio telling stories about fishing and pickles. It's much more entertaining than the game itself.

                            GL today.

                              Savvy

So glad you won ... you deserve it .

Last night I was at the computer looking at the matchups for today and my satellite is not hooked up in this particular room. So I turned on the radio and caught the last 2 innings. Normally I wouldnt bother but since this was an important game for us ... well you know how it is.

Oh God I cant believe that in only 2 months we get Schtooled again with those insufferable 5 minute messages. Time sure does fly .

                              Be Well Savvy

Coverboy-Even though as you know I am a huge Sox fan, Joe Castiglione leaves a lot to be desired as a radio announce;usually Trupiano is ok.
Who was announcing last night when you listened, because as stated I was watching on tv?
ps I still get the 5 minute messages from Schtool-no break for me;I call daily for the comps from the other guys(he owns).
