Can't bet the over obvious Smithers, I narrowed it down to;
Patti has been a loner looking for love, can't find it
Milhouse-parents' divorce screwed him up
Lenny and Carl-never had a girl near them
Mr. Burns-Groening can have fun with the fact that he is gay and Smithers is not or that Burns is gay and Smithers waits to come out.
Early money for me is on Burns, just for more episodes to come out, also it pays a good price.
