When I made one of the sugestions to have people pay, I certainly am guilty of not clarifing, that those who supply Service Reports, such as yourself, should be immune from payment...

I agree with you, you pay for the service, share it with us for no fee, it would certainly be unjust to charge you for sharing....

The more I think of it, Advertisers, should bear the burden....They are getting one hell of a lot of pushes, by us, for their products...

As GoldVike stated, when someone asks for a good Sportsbook, numerous members jump in and state, why not go along with our sponsors...I for one do that, and so do numerous others...

My company is running a wide area network via the internet. The cost of servers are very expensive. It's not the same as buying a desktop computer for $500. Secondly, Monte is correct! Load Balancing is very expensive.

People simply won't follow the rules. We have 50 people posting service plays in their own thread as it is.

If we get rid of lurkers then it can't do anything but help a ton.

man, I logged on to the site yesterday and have never seen so many users listed under the "current users" field. Took up almost a quarter of my screen!!

Granted I am new here and only manage a couple of post per day, but I really like this place. Maybe if all the free service people could post in the same thread rather than have a ton of postings for the same day it would be quicker and less painful to pick through. I was a little annoyed that I couldn't get online here yesterday, especially after having moved and finally gotten the internet back up.

If you were to add another server, do you think you could get one of the advertisers here to pick up part of the tab? Maybe the sites that post free service plays could pay you a fee to do it, since it is a bit like advertising?

Just throwing a few thoughts out there!

Yesterday was the first time I have had trouble getting on.I voted for #1,but I would pay a small fee if necessary.I don't post plays because I don't consider myself that good of a capper,but I would hate to lose access.The service plays thread has to be the culprit.I at one time was into that thread,but now I follow EZ,Homer,Wayne,Phil Jr,T dickson,and have been doing well.I love this site and hope it all works out for everyone.

Obviously the problem is too many people trying to view the service pages all at the same time. The thread is 5-6 pages by 11:15 est and takes forever to scroll through because of the analyse provided by some of the service's. 2 or 3 service's often take up a whole page and people are spending 10+ minutes just reading.
Solution: Have a seperate thread for GAME DAY LATE PHONE SERVICE PLAYS ONLY. ******/SPARK type service posts. NO ANALYST, JUST THE STAR RATINGS. This will let the majority of people who just want to check out the late phone plays of a certain few service's rapidly click in and out thus clearing the server for others. It's the extra long time it takes peope to surf through the service pages that's the problem. Speeding it up with ******/SPARK type posts, eliminating the service's reasoning entierly, should help.....i hope.

How much coin for you to upgrade. You do a helluva job with the forum and (for the most part) the folks who are posting are really good guys. If you could give us an idea of the cost of adding capacity, I would certainly throw some juice into the plate. Hell, even on a good week, I'll normally drop half a dollar in vig alone on a Saturday. Not saying (or even suggesting) that everybody help out, but as many folks as there were on here yesterday, wouldn't take a huge percentage to defray alot of the bill. Found out yesterday how reliant I am on the Board to make solid plays. I undertsood the problem completely, but it didn't alleviate the frustration and angst. Whatcha think?

If you want my bucks, though, I suggest you let me know PDQ cause it looks like I might have a date with Ivan the Terrible. Props for the site...as usual

I'm pretty sure the problem has nothing to do with what thread people are looking at, but it is the volume of people accessing the web site in general. So having seperate threads for the freebies would not solve anything. MAybe by removing the automatic log in cookies and issuing a password for current members only, might help, but there will still be people trying to get on, just like a freeway. bodog crashed badly yesterday and I missed out on some winning bets because of it. As internet gambling gets more prevalent the problem is only going to get worse, and something will have to be done sooner or later
