        WinOnBaseball.com - Thursday - 9/2/04

Welcome to our first annual service free trial!

-- WinOnBaseball handicaps Major League Baseball exclusively.

-- All plays with analysis, along with current and past season records, will be updated weekly on the "Records" page of our website.

-- All records will be documented at National Sports Monitor (*********.com)

-- NEXT UPDATE will be sent before 6:00am Pacific on Friday, September 3rd.

        Season record: 225-233 -22.78 UNITS

        SD (PEAVY) +126 over STL (Suppan) - 1 UNIT - 5:10pm Pacific
San Diego is 9-0 in Peavy's last nine starts. He's pitched extremely well during this stretch, so the W/L record is not misleading. Suppan has not been great at home, but is winning because of the Cards' offensive support. That support should be harder to get with Peavy on the mound.

        ANA (COLON) +129 over Bos (Lowe) - 1 UNIT - 4:05pm Pacific
Colon seemed to be back on track before an unimpressive effort in his last start. Despite that start, I think he should revert back to his good self, as his velocity and HR allowed are back to his historical numbers. Lowe looked good in his last start, but he is still a bad pitcher, and the Angels should be able to score off of him.

        MIN (RADKE) -139 over Tex (Rogers) - 1 UNIT - 5:10pm Pacific
Radke was rocked in his last start, but I'm not too concerned about that, as he's pitched well for pretty much the rest of the season. He will always keep his team in the game, and as long as he gets some run support, he's got a good shot at winning. He's definitely the best 9 win pitcher in baseball. Rogers threw a season high 125 pitches in his last start and said he felt fatigued after the game, which led to a shorter than usual bullpen session this week. He ot knocked around pretty good in two starts ago against the Twins as well.

                              UTEP
                              Arizona St. ?25 (58)

When Mike Price took the job at UTEP the rumor mill was still in full swing with his exploits front page news pretty much everywhere. The one thing that stands out to me is his coaching skills have not been questioned and he is a very skilled coach. The program he inherited at UTEP is not a top tier team by any stretch of the imagination but what he did get in this deal is 23 red shirt seniors, that?s right 23 seniors that were red shirted by the previous coach. Of those 23 he has 17 returning starters from last seasons team and this will provide some maturity and the much needed field leadership that is only gained by playing in games. ASU on the other hand has had years of big wins, high hopes and bowl aspirations but when the dust settled on last season you had none of those things to help motivate this years troops and build that much needed confidence to play big time college football. This team lacks depth pretty much across both sides of the ball and the offensive line has been decimated by early injuries. We know that ASU is 6-2 ATS at home vs non-conference foes their last 8 but this is a team that will have a hard time keeping that trend alive this week. UTEP on the other hand is 5-1 ATS as dogs of 21 points or more their last 6 and a very solid 5-1-1 ATS vs the PAC 10. With a big number for a cushion I will play the dog here, my play is UTEP + 25

                              4* UTEP +25

                              As Always Good Luck!
