I am a new poster on this site, been on here for months now finally decided to register. Just wanted to say thanks for the picks your making me a fortune!!!! Keep up the good work.
Tony. Keep the comments comming too. It would be no fun living in a sterile world. The only problem with just playing the good teams would be when someone is laying a lot of juice on most plays. This is what sets you apart from the losers. I remember back when USA today listed a months worth of Pete Rose's plays and almost all his plays were for $4,000 or more to win $2,000. Needless to say, he got killed. Of course, to him it was just a scratch because he could afford it. Thanks again Tony.
I understand what you are saying about favs, and don't think I don't take into consideration but...that's the beauty of just making ONE play a day in ML sports like bases and pucks. You CAN and probably SHOULD use a favorite. Look at it this way: if you had only enough money in your online acct to make ONE bet tonight, who would you put it on?
That's how I approach it every day.
If you like to make multiple bets in one day, then I would highly recommend playing low favs (under 120) and/or a few dogs. This will limit your risk. Since I am making one bet per day, I can afford to play some higher favs, especially since I am in the black right now.
Most of us have exposure to the same information. It's how you process it and come up with your picks + money mgmt, that will make the difference.
Tony. That's very true as it applys to you and because of that I would play your pick no matter how big a favorite, although in other situations I might parley it with something else. But would you lay say, over 260 or 280 on a game that looked the best to you on a given day or would you go with your second best pick at say minus 130. Just curious only.
And to answer your question, who would I play tonight if I only had enough for one play, well let me think, that's a hard one, no not really, ST LOUIS.
I do my best on heavy faves. My Milliion $$$ record on teams of -2.00> is 16-1.
The only loser was Schmidt -270. He pitched 7 innings, had a 6-1 lead, 1 er, four thousand strikeouts, and the coaching staff decided to pull him after eighty something pitches with a brilliant game going, no one on base, and no sign of him tiring.
Top of eighth Giants bull pen gives up the game; otherwise 17-0 on these plays.
Heavy faves are the biggest misconception. This whole thing is about winning money. In hoops, I love to look for a good team at home that I have pegged as 'covering'. Then I forget the spread and bank the moneyline. I'm 12-0 in hoops with these plays.
There is nothing to be afraid of with heavy faves except for betting them for no reason at all. Then you get killed. I'm not afraid to lay -300 or even -400. In certain situations they do not lose, and you just nailed a 20-25% return on your money...
good question. the most I would lay AT THIS TIME would be -170. That has a lot to do with my current record and the rate at which favs are winning at this time. That could flucuate depending on how the linesmakers make adjustments as the season goes along.
For the record, though, I have never bet more than -180.
