For Wednesday take Detroit to beat Texas.

It isn't very often that Detroit's Jason Johnson gets to take the hill against a pitcher that is worse than him. He gets that luxury tonight and that's why his pitching stats are of no concern.

It may be unfair to call Mike Bacsik worse than Jason Johnson when he hasn't thrown a pitch in the big leagues all season but its a safe assumption that Johnson is currently the better pitcher.

Johnson is 8-8 with a 4.26 ERA. The Rangers are 3-7 in their last 10 and barely won last night with ace Kenny Rogers on the hill. Texas isn't playing well and the Tigers are 4-3 against the Rangers this season. Detroit has won 5 of its last 9 games including Johnson's last start, a 3-2 victory over the White Sox.

Take the Tigers to rough up the Rangers newest Triple AAA call-up and get the win.

At 9:35 PM, our play is on the Arizona Diamondbacks with Randy Johnson over Florida and Josh Beckett. Beckett is 0-2 in his career vs. Arizona with a 5.94 ERA, and he's also pitched poorly this season both on the road (6.40 ERA) and at night (2-7 record). With a 1.38 ERA in his career vs. Florida, and a 7-1 record, I look for Randy Johnson to finally get back in the win column. Take Arizona. Good luck, as always...Al McMordie
