MLB FREEBIE: 2* CUBS
The Philadelphia Phillies were supposed to rise to the top of the NL East this year. Instead, they're slipping out of contention. The slumping Phillies look to avoid a season-high sixth straight loss when they continue a three-game series with the Cubs at Wrigley Field.
The Phillies lost their fifth in a row 10-7 to the Cubs on Friday and after being picked by many to displace Atlanta atop the division this season, is just 8-14 in its last 22 games, dropping 4 1/2 games behind the first-place Braves. Philadelphia last lost five in a row from April 8-12. The Phils have been incredibly streaky with Kevin Millwood who was touched up for 6 runs in 6 innings his last start @ Florida.
That broke up a 6 game win streak they had with the right-hander that followed a 5 game losing streak. They are 1-5 with Millwood during the day.
The Cubs unloaded on Eric Milton Friday for their 7th win in 10 games. They need to continue the offensive firepower today for the unsupported Matt Clement who has a stellar 2.85 ERA at Wrigley but only a 6-4 record to show for it
