Seattle has lost seven of its last eight overall, and continue to find a way to lose ballgames. Kenny Rodgers is an amazing 10-2 on the year, with a 3.32 ERA, with the team going 11-5 in his 16 starts. In his last three starts his ERA gets even better at 1.60!! Nageotte has not been impressive in his first 3 starts, going 1-2 with a 5.85 ERA !! Texas has won nine of eleven meetings, and will again tonight !!

Padres (Lawrence) @ Diamondbacks (Webb): Bet the D-Backs to win at +107.

In case you haven't noticed, the Diamondbacks are awful this season. They're on an 11-game losing streak that has been pitiful to watch. Even Randy Johnson can't stop the rot, so why on earth should you bet on Webb today?

Well, a streak like this has to end some time, and at home the Diamondbacks have a great opportunity finally to win one behind Webb. He has been their best pitcher by far over the past month, and June is littered with quality Webb starts that the D-Backs turned into hard-luck losses. His 2.64 ERA for the month has seen him lose his last 3 starts, but they were all in the face of fantastic starts by the opposing pitchers. The scores: 2-4, 1-2, 1-2, reflect the luck he's had.

That could change tonight against Lawrence. The Padres' starter has 9 wins on the season, but he hasn't looked as sharp lately. He has lost 2 of his last 3 decisions, and the win came against the Mariners, a team as bad if not worse than the Diamondbacks.

The main reason for taking this bet is the good value line: +107 on the home team. They will get a high-quality start from Webb, and it's just a question of a lucky break going their way for once. The line makes it worth a gamble.
