Blue Jays starter Ted Lilly has pitched very well in his career against the Devil Rays, but clearly this isn’t the same stumbling Devil Rays team we’ve been used. Lou Piniella has these kids playing hard and believing in themselves. Lilly has allowed 123 base runners in 87 innings, and the problem is control as he’s walked 38 batters. Tampa Bay lefty John Halama is throwing the ball well (4-1, 3.66 ERA). He’s been super at home at 2-1 with a 2.35 ERA, holding opponents to a .160 average. Over the last three-plus years, Halama is 15-10 at home with a 2.70 ERA against Toronto. Toronto is 9-18 against lefties and 3-10 against southpaws on the road this season, while Tampa Bay is 7-3 against lefties at home. Play Tampa Bay.

At 9:35 PM, our MLB Game of the Week is on the Arizona Diamondbacks over the San Diego Padres, as Arizona falls into a system of mine that has an effective win percentage of 81.6%, and they will snap their 10-game losing streak tonight. This is an action play--you don't need to specify pitchers. Although our selection doesn't hinge on the starters, it's worth noting that Randy Johnson will be pitching with an extra day of rest tonight, and this year, he's pitched with 5 days' of rest 3 times. In 22 1/3 innings, he struck out 27, walked 3, and allowed just 7 hits and 3 earned runs! I look for a similar dominating effort tonight as Johnson is 13 -2 vs. San Diego with a 2.12 ERA, including 1-0 this season with a 1.69 ERA. The Diamondbacks also seem to be breaking out of their hitting slump. In the first 7 games of their losing streak, they never scored more than 4 runs, but in their last 3 games, they've scored 5 or more runs in every game. They'll be able to win with less tonight. Chris Capuano hasn't made a road start since April 18th as his four starting assignments since joining the rotation as the 5th starter have all been in the comfortable confines in Milwaukee. Good luck at Coors Field with Larry Walker and Preston Wilson back in the lineup. The Rockies are 9-7 with Shawn Estes and 19-39 with everybody else. You may not have been wagering the last time the Brewers won a game in Denver. They are 0-6 here the past two seasons and 6-18 at Coors since '97. Estes has allowed two earned runs or less in 4/5 starts against Milwaukee since May 7th, 2002. Colorado is 7-2 at home against left-handed starters like Capuano. Meanwhile the "Brew Crew" is just 4-7 with southpaws on the season. Teams with Estes are 6-0 on Tuesdays the last three years plus 63-26 as a home favorite since '97. Teams with Capuano are 1-5 when he's a listed road dog to +150 the past three seasons. I'd make this a higher rated play but the Rockies are 2-18 this year following a loss of two runs or less. However the insertion of a healthy Walker and Wilson in the lineup plus Capuano's lack of road experience still makes Colorado a play. The Brewers are 1-7 in game #1 of a new series if they won the final game of their last series. This is dirt cheap for Colorado with easily their most reliable pitcher and the Rockies
