      Joe Gavazzi

      Comp -
Philadelphia with Myers (-120) over Montreal with Hernandez
Phillies have a huge batting advantage in this one and feature a road/home
dichotomy. There a solid 18-15 away while the Expos in their 2 homes are
11-21. Myers has been solid for the Phillies who are 6-1 in his road
starts. The Expos'' Hernandez continues to be a hard luck pitcher who is
1-4 at home. The Expos have lost his last 5 starts. Short price to lay
on the road with perhaps the National League''s best vs. worst.

      Penthouse Picks
Chicago Cubs with Maddux (+105) over St. Louis with Marquis
These are arguably the two best offensive teams in the league. Their
bullpens are comparable as well. The difference here is in starting
pitchers. Maddux has been in good current form with a 2.21 ERA in his
last 3 starts, allowing less than a base runner per inning. For St.
Louis, Marquis, has been at his worst at home with a 5.22 ERA.

Cincinnati with Wilson (+110) over NY Mets with Ginter
No doubting the outstanding performance turned in by the Mets'' Ginter
with a 2.79 ERA in 7 starts. Yet, the Mets have won just 1 of his 4 home
starts in which his ERA is over 4.00. Cincinnati''s Wilson is a perfect
7-0 on the year with a 3.17 ERA and in good current form with a 2.55 ERA
in his last 3. The Reds have won 11 of his last 13 starts. Holding a
dominant offensive edge vs. the weak hitting Mets, take the Reds with
      Wilson as underdog.

-- NEXT UPDATE will be sent before 6:00am Pacific on Wednesday, June 23rd.

                Season record: 131-149 -32.54 UNITS

Lines from Pinnacle current as of 8:59am Pacific on 06/22/04.

                Four plays for Tuesday:

                MIL (DAVIS) -140 over Col (Jennings) - 1 UNIT - 5:05pm Pacific
Will be taking Milwaukee in all three games to start Colorado's road trip. This year, Colorado is 4-14 in the first three games of a road trip, and 8-25 overall on the road. They go up against a hot pitcher in Davis, and they struggle against lefties as well.

                PIT (BENSON) +185 over Hou (Oswalt) - 1 UNIT - 5:05pm Pacific
Benson is a pitcher that may be peaking right now, as he has put together three quality starts in a row, including a dominating one in his last start against Anaheim. He must have straightened things out during a coaches meeting that occurred at the start of the streak. Oswalt has been up and down, and I don't think he's been pitching wel enough to justify this high line.

                CHC (MADDUX) +111 over STL (Marquis) - 1 UNIT - 5:10pm Pacific
Maddux has been pitching really well as of late, and has good numbers on the road. Marquis has put together a good season, but his home numbers are not good at all. He's been hit hard the the Cub lineup in limited action against them. I expect the Cubs to win based on a strong showing from Maddux.

                OAK (HUDSON) -122 overAna (Colon) - 1 UNIT - 7:05pm Pacific
Colon now leads the league in HRs allowed, with 21. His velocity is steadily improving, but the fact the he's still giving up HRs does not bode well for him. He gave up 3 ER in his last start, but they were all solo HRs. Put a couple men on base and it would have been a real ugly performance. Moreover, Oakland is near the top of the league in HRs. Hudson has done really well against the Angel hitters. He should do well again, but I'm also confident in the A's offensive matchup against Colon.

                          MLB Seattle vs. Texas [2004-06-22]
Take Texas Rangers -130 (or better)

Reason: The Mariners are just a big heaping pile of disappointment this year. Seattle is merely 13-20 on the road this year, and their batting against right handers is embarassing. So far Seattle is hitting just .257 and scoring less than 4 runs per game as a team against RHP. Counter to the Seattle's lack of it, the Rangers have enjoyed some unexpected success in post-A-Rod Texas. The Rangers are 20-11 at Texas this year and are well on their way to a great season

Love betting the Brewers this year. Especially at home. This team is much better than people expected. Very good young players. Davis is one of those young pitchers that has pitched solid. His 3.44 ERA on the year has surprised most. Colorado a 8-25 team on the road. Colorado scores under 2 runs a game against lefties on the road. There average against lefties on the road is under .230. Milwaukee is a solid 20-15 at home. Take the Brewers at a decent price
