4* White Sox and Expos 'OVER' 8 1/2 runs at -120

Pitching was an absolute joke last night at Olympic Stadium where Montreal and Chicago combined for 31 runs and 33 hits as eight relievers and two starters proved to be useless against the offensive lineups of both squads. The ‘OVER’ is 9-2 in the last 11 Chicago games while Montreal has soared ‘OVER’ in their last six games. Chicago probable Jon Garland has been touched for five of his 11 home runs allowed in 2004 in his last two starts. His ERA in his last three assignments is a pathetic 7.50. Zach Day failed to complete the 2nd inning at Minnesota in his last turn getting hammered for four earned runs and four hits with two walks in 1 1/3rd innings. Day has been an ‘UNDER’ pitcher most of the season. But when these two starters falter today, don’t look for the bullpen to be a sign of relief based on recent results. This offensive boom is nothing new for Montreal in this spot. The Expos are 17-4 ‘OVER’ in home inter-league play the last three years. Meanwhile the White Sox are 5-1 ‘OVER’ with Garland when taking on NL opponents. The fact that Montreal has accumulated 24 runs on 30 hits in the first two games of this series is not exactly a glowing endorsement about Montreal pitching. I’ll go ‘OVER’ this extremely low total as a 4* Major
