DETROIT (-5 ½) 86 New Jersey 80
Coming into this series I was very high on the Pistons and thought they’d win in 5 or 6 games. However, the Nets have upped their level of play in the post-season once again this year and they are now 26-12-2 ATS in Eastern Conference playoff games the last 3 seasons, including 9-1-1 ATS in games following a loss. I still think the Pistons are a better team and my ratings favor Detroit by 6 ½ points in this game. My ratings using playoff games only favor the Pistons by just 5 points, but I have less faith in ratings derived from a limited number of games. It’s probably best to stay away from this game.
