LARRY NESS NBA PICK
10* - San Antonio Spurs
What a turnaround in this series! Duncan and Parker (who outscored Payton 50-11) led the Spurs to consecutive 10-point wins in Games 1 & 2, as the Spurs took a 2-0 lead in the series. LA returned home however and found its "game". Shaq averaged 28 pts and 14.5 rebs in LA, Payton "woke up", Kobe DOMINATED Game 4 with 42 points and the Laker bench finally contributed. Overall, the Lakers finally ran their offense and defensively they disrupted the Spurs. Duncan was held to just 14.4 ppg (.333 shooting), Parker to 13 ppg (shooting .367), Turkoglu and Bowen combined to shoot just .303 while only Ginobili (averaged 19 ppg) looked like they same player for the Spurs. Now it's back to SA for Game 5! The Spurs 17-game winning streak was snapped by their two losses in LA but the Spurs still own a 17-game winning streak at home (last loss was 3/1 to Memphis 81-80!). During that run, the Spurs have scored opponents 97.4 ppg and allowed 81 ppg, a margin of victory of 16.4 ppg! The Lakers, who were able to average 101.5 ppg (shooting .533) in Games 3 & 4 in LA, averaged just 81.5 ppg while shooting just .448 in SA in Games 1 & 2. All season long the Lakers have been a TERRIBLE road team, as including their two losses and non-****** in this series in Games 1 & 2, are now 1-11 SU and 2-10 as road dogs this year! SBC Center brings out the "best" in the Spurs and the "worst" in the Lakers, as SA takes a 3-2 series lead with a win and cover here!
