WinOnBaseball.com - Tuesday Report - 04/27/04
-- NEXT UPDATE will be sent before 6:00am Pacific on WEDNESDAY, April 28.
All lines taken from Pinnacle and current as of 4/26/04 10:15pm Pacific.
Season record: 39-41 -7.03 UNITS
Six plays for Tuesday:
OVER 10 HOU (REDDING)/PIT (FOGG) -106 - 1 UNIT - 4:05pm Pacific
Both starters have been struggling. Neither one has shown any signs of improvement, so I expect both to continue their poor play; Fogg may be one of the worst starters in the majors, so I expect the Houston offense to score big off of Fogg.
UNDER 8 MON (PATTERSON)/SD (VALDEZ) -117 - 1 UNIT - 7:05pm Pacific
Petco Park plays to the strengths of both starting pitchers, as they are both flyballers. Early returns on the park show that the deep power alleys and the moist, heavy sea air turn extra base hits into outs. Combine that with the fact that Montreal still can't score, and the under looks pretty safe.
OVER 9 ATL (WRIGHT)/SF (RUETER) -119 - 1 UNIT - 7:15pm Pacific
I've tabbed Rueter as one of my "bet against" pitchers this year. It looks like his lack of command and dominance has finally caught up to him, as he has posted some ugly numbers this year. Didn't want to bet against him tonight, as Wright has looked almost as bad. Even before his last start, when he had a 2.25 ERA, he showed a lack of command. It carried over into his last start, and he got rocked. While the both offenses have looked pretty pathetic, I think the poor starting pitching in this one should push the total over.
OAK (HUDSON) +103 over NYY (Mussina) - 1 UNIT - 4:05pm Pacific
Hudson has been on fire, and he should continue against the slumping Yankee offense. Mussina looks like he may have turned it around in his last start against the White Sox. After a rough first inning, he made some adjustments and ended up pitching a complete game. His velocity was a little higher in that game, also. He still has been exhibiting control problems, which is a no-no against Oakland's lineup, and is the reason why I like Oakland here in a close game. Almost considered taking the under as well, as I think Mussina will bounce back from his terrible start to the season.
ANA (LACKEY) -134 over Det (Cornejo) - 1 UNIT - 4:05pm Pacific
Lackey had his best outing of the season in his last start against Texas, but I'm still not sure if that outing means that he is out of the woods yet. I do know, however, that Cornejo is a very bad pitcher, and the Angel offense should overwhelm him.
TOR (BATISTA) +135 over Min (Santana) - 1 UNIT - 5:10pm Pacific
Toronto has been struggling to start the season, but this team has too much talent to continue on like that. It looks like they are starting to turn it around, as they have scored 21 runs and have 31 hits in their last two games. Like Radke, Santana is not the best matchup for this team, as he is an extreme flyballer, but he is a lefty, and Toronto hit over .290 against lefties last year. Their numbers against lefties this year is pitiful, but not indicative of their true ability.
PLEASE NOTE: All wagers are recommended for a "base" unit. Thus a side for 1 UNIT at -110 should be considered risking 1.10 UNITS to win 1.00 UNITS, while a team at +110 should be considered risking 1.00 UNITS to win 1.10 UNITS.
