Last night you posted in GoldVike's thread a question about figuring out horse race results. Below is a sample of a race result:
Race 10
5 Congaree................ 5.40 2.50 2.10
2 Monarchos.........................2.20 2.10
6 Richly Blendedlson.....................2.10
Wager Type Winning Numbers Payoff
$2 Pick 3 5-2-5 (3 correct) $207.00
$2 Daily Double 2-5 $25.40
$2 Exacta 5-2 $10.00
$2 Quinnella 2-5 $4.80
$2 Trifecta 5-2-6 $21.00
All bets are based on a $2 wager. If you played #5 to win for $2 your payout would be $5.40 winning $3.40. Any other bets to win are losers. If you play a horse for place (2nd) The horse must finish first or second. If you played #5 for place the payout would be $2.20 winning 20 cents. If you played #5, #2 or #6 to show the payout would be $2.10 winning 10 cents.
The pick-3 is the results from this race and the previous two races. It is on the winner of each race. The #5 from race 8, the #2 from race 9 and the #5 from this race.
The daily double is the same as the pick-3 but it is only from two races. The #2 from race 9 and the #5 from this race.
The Exacta or Perfecta is the 'EXACT' finish of the win (1st) and place (2nd) horses from this race (10) #5 Congaree and #2 Monarchos. If you played a 2-5 Exacta you would lose. Most people play an Exacta 'BOX'. You are playing both combinations 2-5 and 5-2 for a cost of $4.
A Quinnella is the same as an Exacta. It involved the win and place horses. The 'Exact' order is not required. A 2/5 is a winner. The cost is 1/2 of the Exacta. The payout is usually about 1/2 of the Exacta.
The Trifecta or triple is the same as the Exacta except you need all 3 finishers (win, place and show) in the race. Same as the Exacta most play a Trifecta box 256, 265, 526, 562, 625, 652. A total of six combinations. If you played a straight triple wager 256 for $2 it is a losing ticket.
Many tracks now allow $1 wagers. A Trifecta box for $1 would cost $6. However, the payout would be 1/2 or $10.50 in this race example.
I hope this answered your questions.
