Game of the Day: Trail Blazers at Heat
        ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Portland Trail Blazers at Miami Heat (-6, 210)

The Miami Heat and Portland Trail Blazers don't look like teams that are peaking heading into the postseason. Both playoff-bound squads have lost seven of their last 11 games and need a momentum-building victory when they square off Monday in Miami. The Heat remain firmly entrenched as the No. 2 team in the Eastern Conference — three games behind Indiana — while the Trail Blazers have slid to fifth in the West.

Both teams are coming off ugly road losses. The Heat have been lackluster on defense too often of late and allowed New Orleans to shoot 51.2 percent in a 105-95 loss Saturday. "Yes, our locker room is angry. Yes, our locker room is frustrated, as rightly we should be," Miami coach Erik Spoelstra told reporters. "We're not accustomed to this type of play, these type of standards, particularly on the defensive end." The Trail Blazers have won three of their last five following a season-high four-game skid, but they opened their five-game East Coast road trip with a 124-94 clunker at Charlotte.

        TV:
7:30 p.m. ET, NBATV, CSN Northwest (Portland), Sun Sports (Miami)

        LINE HISTORY:
The early line out of Vegas is Miami -6, with a total of 210.

        INJURY WATCH:
Portland: PF LaMarcus Aldridge - doubtful (back). Miami: F LeBron James - probable (ankle), G Dwyane Wade - questionable (knee)

        POWER RANKINGS:
        Portland (-9.4) - Miami (-14) + home court (-3) = Miami -6.6

WHY BET THE BLAZERS (45-25, 37-33 ATS):
Leading scorer LaMarcus Aldridge (23.4 points, 11.1 rebounds) is expected to miss his sixth straight game with a bruised lower back. Portland had held its own without him until suffering its most lopsided loss of the season against the Bobcats. Without Aldridge, the Trail Blazers will have to rely more on point guard Damian Lillard, who is tied for second in the league with 189 3-pointers, surpassing his own franchise record from a year ago.

WHY BET THE HEAT (47-21, 30-36-2 ATS):
LeBron James keeps producing — he has hit double figures in scoring in 560 consecutive games — but he hasn't always had much help. The Heat should be at full strength after a night off, meaning guard Dwyane Wade and center Greg Oden should be in the lineup. Miami is 4-0 when Oden — the injury-prone former Trail Blazer — is in the starting lineup.

        TRENDS:

        * Over is 4-0 in the last four meetings in Miami.
        * Trail Blazers are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Miami.
        * Over is 15-5-1 in the last 21 meetings.
        * Road team is 6-2 ATS in the last eight meetings.

          Monday, March 24

Thunder guard Russell Westbrook, doubtful Monday

Westbrook is not expected to play Monday against the Nuggets due to a scheduled day of rest.

Heat guard Dwyane Wade, questionable Monday

Wade did not play Saturday due to a knee injury and is questionable to play Monday against the Trail Blazers.

Blazers' forward LaMarcus Aldridge, questionable Mon

Aldridge suffered a back contusion March 12th against the Spurs and has not played since. He is questionable to play Monday against the Heat.

Rockets' center Dwight Howard, questionable Monday

Howard missed the last three games due to a sprained left ankle and is questionable to play Monday against the Bobcats.

76ers open as 21.5-point dogs vs. Spurs

The Philadelphia 76ers have opened as 21.5-point road dogs for their matchup with the San Antonio Spurs Monday.

The Sixers are in the midst of a historically bad losing streak, which currently sits at 24 straight games. Despite the epic losing streak the Sixers have been able to keep games close - at least in terms of these large spreads - and have covered six of their last eight games.

Two more losses and the Sixers will match the NBA record set by the 2010-11 Cleveland Cavaliers of 26 straight.

                Rangers' Profar out 10-12 weeks

Texas Rangers second baseman Jurickson Profar has a torn muscle in his right shoulder and is expected to be sidelined 10-12 weeks.

Profar first experienced shoulder pain during Saturday's game against the Padres. He underwent an MRI exam, which revealed a tear in the teres major muscle.

He won't need surgery, assistant general manager Thad Levine said, according to USA Today, but it is a setback for the 21-year-old Profar, who was scheduled get his first everyday job in the major leagues after Ian Kinsler was traded in the offseason.

"This is our everyday second baseman, somebody we expected to take a major step forward in his career," Levine said. "Hopefully he'll be a weapon in the second half of the season."

Profar hit .234 with six homers in 85 games for the Rangers last season.

Josh Wilson, a utility infielder, seems to be the leading candidate to replace Profar, but the Rangers may explore other options.

Top prospect Rougned Odor, a second baseman, has hit .294 in 10 spring training games but has played only 30 games as high as Class AA.

Sonny Gray named A's Opening day starter

Right-hander Sonny Gray has been named the Opening Day starter for the Oakland Athletics, according to MLB.com's Jane Lee.

The 24-year-old Gray went 5.2 innings, allowing three hits and one run while striking out seven with just one walk in his last spring start.

Gray made 10 starts last season going 5-3 with a 2.67 earned run average with 67 strikeouts in 64 innings.

The A's will open their season versus the Cleveland Indians March 31.
