(ATS) Power Rating Team Comments
1 1 no change in rankings Arizona 15-0
(10-4-0) -17.35 The Wildcats are now 10-4 ATS on the season, which is even more impressive when you consider how inflated the spreads against the No. 1 team in the country are.
2 3 move up in rankings1 Syracuse 14-0
(6-4-0) -17.20 They dodged a bullet against Miami last Saturday. Now they have to avoid looking ahead to Saturday's date with UNC in the Dome when they travel to Blacksburg to take on Virginia Tech Tuesday night.
3 2 move down in rankings1 Oklahoma St. 12-2
(5-5-0) -16.65 Picture how every college game has been officiated this year. Well, the Ok. State-Kansas State game was the exact opposite of that. It was an absolute cage match.
4 4 no change in rankings Ohio St. 15-0
(8-6-0) -16.40 The Buckeyes have covered three straight and seven of 10. But they play three of their next four games on the road, with a trip to Michigan State set before a tricky home date with Iowa on Sunday.
5 6 move up in rankings1 Louisville 13-2
(7-6-0) -16.35 Russ Smith is on pace for 192 assists this year. That would match his total from the past two years combined, and be just 14 short of his total for his previous three seasons.
6 7 move up in rankings1 Michigan St 13-1
(7-4-2) -16.25 The favorite is just 2-7 ATS in the Ohio State series. Just four of Sparty's next 12 games are on the road so I don't expect a ton of value with this team over the next month.
7 5 move down in rankings2 Wisconsin 15-0
(10-5-0) -15.70 The officiating in that Iowa game was a farce. The Badgers would've lost to the Hawkeyes by 20 on a neutral court with neutral officials.
8 9 move up in rankings1 Florida 11-2
(4-4-1) -15.55 The Gators should be around 14-point home favorites against USC on Wednesday. But the home team is just 5-15-1 ATS in the last 21 in that series and the Gators are just 2-7 ATS in their last nine conference games.
9 10 move up in rankings1 Villanova 13-1
(9-3-0) -15.20 The Wildcats completely overwhelmed a pretty decent Providence team Sunday. You don't normally think of the Wildcats having a big home court advantage, but they are 5-1 ATS with an average margin of victory of 21.8 points.
10 13 move up in rankings3 Iowa St. 13-0
(8-3-0) -14.45 Fred Hoiberg's team has been one of the best bets in the sport over the last two seasons. Iowa State is 20-7 ATS in its last 27 home games, 20-8 ATS in their last 28 games overall, and 41-19-1 ATS in their last 61 Big 12 games.
11 15 move up in rankings4 Wichita St. 15-0
(9-2-1) -14.30 The Shockers do have a great chance at an undefeated regular season. Back-to-back road games at Indiana State and at Northern Iowa on Feb. 5 and Feb. 8, respectively, are their only true tests.
12 11 move down in rankings1 Oregon 13-1
(8-3-2) -13.75 I don't want to slam the Ducks for losing at Colorado - the Buffs have had Oregon's number - but the fact that they blew a 10-point second half lead is mildly disconcerting.
13 8 move down in rankings5 Duke 11-3
(8-6-0) -13.40 These guys are completely and totally lost on defense. I mean, they don't have a clue. Yes, Jabari Parker flopped in his first road test. But they blew that game against Notre Dame because they can't...stop...ANYONE.
14 16 move up in rankings2 Baylor 12-1
(3-4-0) -12.95 The Bears have fattened up on four cupcakes over the last four weeks. Will they have some rust Tuesday night when they play their first road game of the season in Ames?
15 17 move up in rankings2 Colorado 13-2
(9-5-0) -12.85 Huge win for the Buffaloes and Colorado has taken down 13 of 14. But they need to be careful to avoid the letdown this weekend in their trips to Washington State and Washington. Colorado is still not a great road team.
16 23 move up in rankings7 San Diego St. 12-1
(7-3-0) -12.60 Wow. They don't just hand out true road wins in Lawrence. This SDSU team is playing loose, yet disciplined, basketball.
17 20 move up in rankings3 Iowa 12-3
(8-5-0) -11.90 I couldn't have been more impressed with Iowa in their loss at Wisconsin. The officiating in that game was a farce, and the Hawkeyes proved that they will be a definite player in the Big 10 race.
18 19 move up in rankings1 Kentucky 10-3
(5-5-1) -11.80 The Wildcats have only played two games in the last 24 days. We'll see if Coach Cal has put that training time to good use when the Wildcats feast on Mississippi State and Vanderbilt this week.
19 14 move down in rankings5 Kansas 9-4
(5-8-0) -11.80 Youth. I tried to tell anyone that would listen early in the season that the Jayhawks would be a money burner and now they are just 5-4 SU and 2-7 ATS in their last nine games. They don't have any bad losses though. So there's hope.
20 22 move up in rankings2 VCU 12-3
(6-7-0) -11.15 Nemesis George Mason comes to Richmond on Thursday to resume their former CAA blood feud. VCU won 74-64 in their last meeting back in March of 2012.
21 12 move down in rankings9 Connecticut 11-3
(4-8-0) -11.10 Extremely interesting game between Harvard and Connecticut on Wednesday. Huskies are at home and have won four straight in the series. But they are on a 1-8 ATS slide against a Harvard team that is rolling (9-0 SU and 8-1 ATS).
22 24 move up in rankings2 Massachusetts 12-1
(9-4-0) -10.40 The Minutemen are on an 0-3 ATS slide. And they have looked sloppy doing it. This team may have peaked too soon. I don't know if I trust Derek Kellogg to crack the whip on this group and get them going again.
23 25 move up in rankings2 Creighton 12-2
(9-3-0) -10.25 I may be underselling this group right now. But until I see them get through the teeth of the Big East later in the month I'm still not sure if they have a counterpunch when an opponent takes away Ethan Wragge and can keep their guards out of the lane.
24 26 move up in rankings2 Gonzaga 14-2
(7-6-1) -10.00 I'm not sure what's going on with Gerard Coleman. I thought he would be a major player for this team and got off to a great start. But he's averaging just 3.4 points per game in his last seven. They need him to step up with Gary Bell out until February.
25 18 move down in rankings7 North Carolina 10-4
(7-7-0) -9.55 I am probably still overrating this team. But they are 51-20 ATS following a loss and they should handle Miami before their trip to Syracuse this Saturday.
