Cardinals at Angels: What bettors need to know
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

St. Louis Cardinals at Los Angeles Angels (-125, 7.5)

Albert Pujols faces his former team for the first time when the Los Angeles Angels begin a three-game series against the visiting St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday. Pujols, who signed with the Angels as a free agent last season after playing 11 illustrious years in St. Louis, has four hits in his last 34 at-bats and is hitting .249 with 13 home runs and 49 RBIs. The Angels have won six in a row, while St. Louis has lost six of its last eight.

Angels outfielder Mike Trout missed his first game of the season Sunday with a sore hamstring, but he’s expected to return for Tuesday’s series opener. Trout will likely start in center field while J.B. Shuck starts in left field after Peter Bourjos was placed on the 15-day disabled list Sunday with a fractured right wrist. Angels outfielder Josh Hamilton is showing signs of breaking out of his season-long slump, batting .273 with five RBIs in his last five games.

TV: 10:05 p.m. ET, Fox Sports Midwest (St. Louis), Fox Sports West (Los Angeles)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Cardinals RH Lance Lynn (10-2, 3.52 ERA) vs. Angels RH Jered Weaver (1-4, 4.15)

Lynn suffered his second loss last Wednesday against the Astros, allowing four runs in 7 2/3 innings. The 26-year-old right-hander has allowed four or more runs in three of his last four starts while posting a 5.84 ERA during that stretch. Lynn, who has never faced the Angels, is 1-1 with a 4.70 ERA in seven career interleague games (two starts).

After three straight shaky outings, Weaver pitched seven innings of one-run ball against the Tigers last Thursday. “We’re confident that he’s going to pitch more like he did today than the way he has in a couple of his last starts,” manager Mike Scioscia told reporters. The 30-year-old Weaver has a 13-4 record with a 2.61 ERA in interleague play.

    TRENDS:

    * Angels are 0-4 in their last four interleague games.
    * Under is 5-0 in Weaver’s last five interleague starts.
    * Under is 5-1 in Cardinals’ last six vs. a team with a losing record.

    WALK-OFFS

    1. Cardinals 1B Matt Adams is expected to return to the starting lineup Tuesday after missing Sunday’s contest with food poisoning.

    2. Angels 2B Howie Kendrick is hitting .356 (58-for-163) since May 14.

    3. The Cardinals are 18-9 in the first game of a series.

Pirates best bet in baseball; riding nine-game winning streak
      ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Pittsburgh Pirates have been the best bet in baseball for most of the season, but they’ve been especially profitable over the past nine games.

The Pirates have won nine consecutive contests and boast the best record in baseball (51-30).

The Bucs have been underdogs in five of the nine games and any $100 bettor would be up a cool $1,000.79 if they had wagered on each game of the streak.

The Pirates open a three-game set with the Philadelphia Phillies at PNC Park on Tuesday. Pittsburgh is 3-1 against the Phillies so far this campaign and is a -159 favorite at BetOnline for the opener of the set.

Pirates bettors are up a league-high 27.30 units - by far the most profitable team in the bigs

Jays, Pirates, Padres big movers in MLB futures
      ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It’s hard to believe but we’re already halfway through the MLB season as the calendar flips to July.

Here are three teams that have drastically improved their futures odds with their stellar play in the last month.

      Pittsburgh Pirates

      Start of June: 25/1
      Now: 15/1

The Pirates opened the 2013 campaign with 60-1 odds to win the World Series and their odds have improved slowly throughout the first half of the season. Pittsburgh caught fire in the month of June, posting a 17-9 record. The Bucs are riding a nine-game winning streak into a three-game set with the Philadelphia Philles beginning Tuesday.

      Toronto Blue Jays

      Start of June: 100/1
      Now: 30/1

Much like the Pirates, the Blue Jays used a long winning streak to increase their stock in June. Toronto ripped off 11 straight wins throughout the middle of the month to get back to the .500 mark and become playoff contenders. Toronto was being dealt as high as 12-1 at some books before it cooled off towards the end of June.

      San Diego Padres

      Start of June: 50/1
      Now: 30/1

The Padres are quietly putting together a very impressive campaign. The Friars opened the season with 100-1 odds to win the World Series and have peaked at 30-1 as of July 1. San Diego enters play Monday only 2.5 games back of the Arizona Diamondbacks for the NL West lead.

Marlins a good catch for bettors in June
          ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Miami Marlins and their backers had a fairly successful month of June as the squad posted a 15-10 record for the month and turned a profit for bettors.

Any $100 bettor would be up $1,033.54 if they had wagered on the Marlins in each of their June games.

The Marlins closed the month winning five of six and head into July on the heels of a Jeff Mathis walk-off grand slam to beat the San Diego Padres 6-2 Sunday.

Some solid pitching was key to the Marlins' successful June. The Miami staff ranked No. 5 in the National League with a 3.51 ERA for the month.

Preview: Brewers (33-49) at Nationals (42-41)
                    Game: 3
                    Venue: Nationals Park
                    Date: July 03, 2013 6:05 PM EDT

Despite being without their top hitters and losing their starting pitcher to injury, the Milwaukee Brewers ended their slide.

With Kyle Lohse getting the nod after a strong June, they'll try to string together back-to-back victories Wednesday night against the host Washington Nationals.

Milwaukee (33-49) was without Jean Segura and Carlos Gomez on Tuesday. Gomez, who leads the team in homers (12) and OPS (.906), continued to heal a left shoulder injury that saw him miss time last month. Segura's .325 batting average is one of the best in baseball but he has been nursing a sore right thumb, manager Ron Roenicke told the team's official website.

Segura and Gomez's combined 92 runs account for 28.2 percent of the Brewers' team total of 326.

"To take two guys out of the Nos. 2 and 3 hole, that's not something I wanted to do," he said. "We're trying to get them back healthy. They're both such an important part of our lineup this year."

Roenicke also said that Ryan Braun - still sidelined with a bruised right thumb - will likely not return until after the All-Star break. Braun's primary replacement, Logan Schafer, is hitting .187 since Braun's last game on June 9.

But Schafer was 1 for 4 with a run in Milwaukee's 4-0 victory over Washington on Tuesday, ending the team's second six-game losing streak of the season. Starter Wily Peralta left in the sixth inning due to a hamstring injury and Stephen Strasburg stifled the Brewers with seven shutout innings, but that was before they tagged reliever Drew Storen for four runs in the eighth.

The bullpen for Washington (42-41) ranks 15th in the majors in ERA at 3.62, but has posted a 6.14 mark over the last five games.

Five players combined for the Nationals' eight hits Tuesday, and Bryce Harper was 0 for 4 in his second game back after missing more than a month with knee bursitis. Harper also dropped a flyball off the bat of Martin Maldonado, leading to the third of Milwaukee's four runs in the eighth.

Looking to lead the Brewers to a second consecutive road win for the first time since June 1 will be Lohse (3-6, 3.63 ERA). He exited his last start Sunday at Pittsburgh after 1 2-3 innings after a 2-hour, 20-minute rain delay. He didn't allow a hit though, putting a cap on an impressive June that saw him go 2-0 with a 2.34 ERA over 34 2-3 innings.

Harper is 3 for 6 against Lohse while Jayson Werth is 8 for 21 with three homers and three doubles. Werth was 0 for 3 Tuesday after going 11 for 29 (.379) over his previous eight games, including a five-RBI performance in Monday's 10-5 series-opening win.

Washington starter Ross Detwiler (2-6, 4.13) will hope to receive some better fortune than Strasburg. The left-hander is winless through his last five starts while posting a 7.15 ERA, but he also received a total of five runs of support in those games.

Rickie Weeks - who is hitting .229 on the season but owns a 1.050 OPS over his last 11 games - is 3 for 5 off Detwiler with a homer.

Preview: Tigers (44-38) at Blue Jays (41-42)
                      Game: 3
                      Venue: Rogers Centre
                      Date: July 03, 2013 7:07 PM EDT

In the midst of a career-best start, Max Scherzer continues to be humbled by his success with the Detroit Tigers this season.

Trying for a career-high sixth straight winning start, Scherzer looks to improve to 13-0 and remain undefeated against the host Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday night.

Scherzer (12-0, 3.10 ERA) is the first Detroit (44-38) pitcher ever to win his first 12 decisions and first major leaguer to do so since Roger Clemens went 14-0 for Boston in 1986. Through it all, the right-hander is quick to deflect the praise coming his way.

"My record is a reflection of our team," Scherzer told the Tigers' official website. "I don't get caught up in the win-loss record, because it's kind of flukey."

Scherzer, who is backed by a major league-best 7.83 run support average, posted a 2.38 ERA while going 5-0 in June. He yielded three runs, four hits, including two homers, and struck out nine in seven innings of a 6-3 win at Tampa Bay on Friday.

He also won five consecutive starts from Aug. 10-Sept. 1.

"He's just good," Rays manager Joe Maddon said. "He's got a little of that whiffle ball look from the side, where the ball is jumping all over the place. Then he gets the velocity when he wants it.

                      "There's a reason why he's 12-0. He's very good.'

Scherzer has looked good while going 3-0 with a 1.59 ERA in five starts versus Toronto (41-42).

He'll try to help the Tigers build on their second win in eight games, 7-6 over the Blue Jays on Tuesday. Miguel Cabrera shook off a sore back to hit his 26th homer and Torii Hunter had four singles, including the tie-breaker in the eighth as Detroit overcame an early 4-0 deficit to end a three-game slide.

"Just a good win for us, we needed it,' manager Jim Leyland said. "Hopefully we can get things going again.'

Cabrera, who went 0 for 4 in Monday's series-opening 8-3 loss, has homered for six of the 11 hits in his last 31 at_bats while driving in 10 runs. While Cabrera expects the back won't keep him out Wednesday, Leyland will be more cautious.

"He said no rest (Wednesday), he'll be ready,' Leyland said. "We'll play that one by ear.'

Hunter, who was 1 for 17 in four contests prior to Tuesday, is 3 for 4 with a double and a triple against scheduled Toronto starter Josh Johnson (1-2, 5.21).

The right-hander is 1-0 with a 4.98 ERA in his last four starts, but allowed five runs and eight hits in 3 1-3 innings of a 7-5 loss at Boston on Friday.

"It was one of those frustrating outings where I should have gotten deeper," Johnson told the Blue Jays' official website. "They battled with me. They made me throw a lot of pitches and it just ran up my pitch count."

He was worse in his only previous start against the Tigers when he gave up six runs and seven hits in 1 1-3 innings of an 11-1 loss April 11.

Colby Rasmus homered and had four RBIs on Tuesday for Toronto, which is 3-6 since its 11-game winning streak.

Teammate Jose Bautista is 9 for 17 with three homers and six RBIs in five games since he hit .135 (7 for 52) in his previous 14. He's 6 for 11 with three doubles and a home run versus Scherzer.

                        Game: 2
                        Venue: PNC Park

The Pittsburgh Pirates faced a decision that most teams wish they had to make.

Having selected Jeff Locke to take the mound Wednesday night, the Pirates will look to rebound after the Philadelphia Phillies snapped their nine-game winning streak in the series opener.

Pittsburgh (51-31) could have gone with Jeanmar Gomez, who surrendered an unearned run in five innings at Seattle on Wednesday in his return from right forearm tightness. The Pirates have won all eight games that Gomez has started this season.

Instead, Locke (7-1, 2.06 ERA), who was scratched from Tuesday's game due to a lengthy bullpen session in Sunday's extra-inning win over Milwaukee, is scheduled to make the start.

"Jeff was obviously very aggressive in his bullpen, because he was going in to pitch the 15th inning," Pittsburgh manager Clint Hurdle told the Pirates' official website. "He's been a very honest self-evaluator for us."

The left-hander has been outstanding of late, with a 1.07 ERA over his last eight starts. He has allowed 30 hits over 50 2-3 innings, while yielding only one home run during that span. He hasn't lost since his first start of the season.

Locke, who received just 32 runs of support over his first 15 starts, got a season-high eight runs his last time out and surrendered two runs in seven innings of a 9-4 victory at Seattle on June 25.

"Probably had the lightest stuff he's had all season," Hurdle said. "But at the end of the day, looking at his numbers, he still found a way to keep the game in check."

He did that and more in his only appearance against the Phillies on April 23, giving up two hits over six innings in a 2-0 win.

Philadelphia (40-44), which entered Tuesday with a 1-6 record and a .203 batting average in road contests against NL Central teams, received a spark from Ryan Howard. The first baseman, who finished June in an 0-for-20 skid with 11 strikeouts, had two hits Tuesday in his first game of July.

Delmon Young, meanwhile, continued his hot hitting on the Phillies' 10-game road trip. He was mired in a 5-for-33 slump before going 12 for 26 (.462) with nine RBIs eight games into the trek.

John Lannan (1-2, 4.83) looks to build off his first win of the season. The left-hander failed to win any of his first five outings, posting a 5.84 ERA, but was in excellent form Friday against the Dodgers. He allowed one run and five hits in seven innings as the Phillies rolled to a 16-1 rout.

"It was a good night,' Lannan said. ``Just to have that offensive production - I mean, you know it's always there. But just to see it happen, that was great for the team.'

Lannan last saw Pittsburgh in July 2011, while with Washington. He's 1-4 with a 4.53 ERA in nine career starts against the Pirates.

Pittsburgh's Starling Marte enters Wednesday riding a seven-game hitting streak, during which he's batting .361. His lone hit in five at_bats Tuesday was a single, ending a run of four straight games with a double and six consecutive games with an extra-base hit.

Preview: Padres (40-44) at Red Sox (51-34)
                          Game: 2
                          Venue: Fenway Park

Just when Jon Lester had seemingly put an end to his struggles, he ran into an injury scare in the middle of a strong outing. Fortunately for both he and the Boston Red Sox, the ailment wasn't serious and won't keep him from the mound Wednesday night.

The left-hander hopes to sustain the improvement from his last start as he takes on the San Diego Padres at Fenway Park.

Lester (8-4, 4.61 ERA) started off 6-0 through his first nine outings, then fell into a seven-start slump that saw him go 1-4 with a 7.30 ERA, lasting more than six innings only twice.

He appeared to right himself Thursday against Toronto, yielding two runs and three hits in the first seven innings and retiring the first 10 batters he faced. But he gave up back-to-back singles to begin the eighth and then was caught in a 3-0 count in the next at-bat, prompting manager John Farrell to remove him from the game after Lester aggravated his hip.

The two-time All-Star has since been evaluated and appears to be good to go for Wednesday. One could understand Farrell's caution, considering the club has already been without Clay Buchholz since June 8.

"Based on all the maintenance work he (Lester) currently does, and the strength exams that he goes through, the range of motion is good," Farrell told the team's official website. "There's nothing that is glaring."

Home runs were an issue for Lester during his run of bad starts, as he yielded nine in 40 2-3 innings after allowing four through his first 59 2-3 innings. He held the Blue Jays homerless.

The Padres have batted .220 during a 2-8 stretch and will try to avoid matching a season-high five-game skid.

Boston (51-34) has just one homer during its 6-1 run, but has found a way to produce in other ways, such as Brandon Snyder's bases-clearing double in the fourth inning of a 4-1 win over San Diego (40-44) in Tuesday's opener.

The Red Sox are averaging 5.9 runs and 11.7 hits over their last seven contests.

Jacoby Ellsbury was 2 for 4 Tuesday to extend his hitting streak to 12 games. He's 21 for 51 (.412) during the run and has also hit safely in all seven of his interleague contests this season, going 15 for 31 (.484) with five doubles.

Looking to slow down Boston's offense will be Edinson Volquez (6-6, 5.50). Volquez has had his share of struggles but is 2-1 with a 3.04 ERA over his last four outings, striking out 30 in 23 2-3 innings while allowing 21 hits. He struck out eight and gave up two runs over six innings in a 9-2 win at Miami on Friday.

"I felt great. Everything was working tonight," said Volquez, who walked one after matching a career high with seven in his previous start. "I just want to be aggressive in the strike zone, not walk too many hitters and stay in the game six or seven innings."

He left without a decision in his only start against Boston, giving up three runs - two earned - over seven innings for Cincinnati on June 14, 2008.

Wednesday marks Lester's first interleague start this season. He's 11-5 with a 3.13 ERA in 21 career starts versus NL teams.

Scott Feldman was one of the few bright spots for the lowly Chicago Cubs this season.

He'll hope to be even better for the Baltimore Orioles.

A day after being traded to the Orioles, Feldman takes the mound in Chicago against the White Sox on Wednesday night.

Feldman, who went 7-6 with a 3.46 ERA in 15 starts for the Cubs, was traded Tuesday along with catcher Steve Clevenger to Baltimore (47-37) for pitchers Jake Arrieta, Pedro Strop and two international signing bonus slots.

"He's a proven veteran starting pitcher, and he should help stabilize our rotation in the second half of the season," executive vice president of baseball operations Dan Duquette told the Orioles' official website.

Originally scheduled to pitch Tuesday for the Cubs, Feldman has an immediate chance to help the Orioles' inconsistent rotation. The right-hander allowed three runs without a walk in six innings of a 5-4 win at Milwaukee last Wednesday.

Feldman returns to the AL after spending his first eight seasons pitching for Texas, including 2005-06 with Showalter as manager. He is 2-0 with a 1.89 ERA in three starts against the AL this year.

"He's a guy with some American League background," Showalter said. "Scotty is what he is. He's a competitive guy."

Feldman has allowed two runs and struck out 12 over 14 innings to win his last two starts against the White Sox. Most recently May 29, when he gave up those two runs and fanned seven in six innings of a 9-3 win.

He'll try to help the Orioles bounce back after their four-game winning streak ended with a 5-2 loss to Chicago on Tuesday. Brian Roberts homered for the first time since 2011 and Nick Markakis added three hits but Adam Dunn's two-run homer highlighted a three-run seventh for the White Sox (33-47), who snapped a five-game skid.

Playing his second game since missing almost three months with a knee injury, Roberts is 7 for 18 (.389) with that home run and three RBIs in five games this season. He's batting .338 with five homers and 12 RBIs in his last 18 versus Chicago.

Dunn has hit .315 with nine home runs and 23 RBIs in his last 21 games for the White Sox, who won for the ninth time in 32 contests.

"We know how good we are. We know we've got a hell of a road ahead of us. We did it to ourselves,' winning pitcher John Danks said. "But at the same time, we know how capable we are of going on a run. We just hope that we're able to do it starting now. We know we're running out of time.'

Dunn is 1 for 10 with four strikeouts versus Feldman.

Scheduled Chicago starter Hector Santiago (3-5, 3.59 ERA) takes the mound looking to bounce back after he could not hold a 5-0 lead and allowed five second-inning runs, seven hits and walked three while failing to get out of the third in Friday's 19-10 loss to Cleveland.

The left-hander is making his first start against the Orioles, but he allowed two homers over two innings of two relief appearances versus Baltimore last year.

Nolan Reimold homered in his only at-bat versus Santiago, and is batting .383 while hitting safely in all 13 career games versus Chicago. The outfielder went 1 for 3 on Tuesday in his return from missing almost two months with a strained right hamstring.

Preview: Marlins (30-52) at Braves (49-34)
                              Game: 2
                              Venue: Turner Field
                              Date: July 03, 2013 7:10 PM EDT

While some believed Ricky Nolasco might be traded before Wednesday's scheduled start, he remains in a Miami Marlins uniform for the time being.

That could bode well for the Atlanta Braves, who have had his number over the years.

Set to make what might be his final start for Miami, Nolasco tries to avoid a fifth consecutive loss to a Braves team that may be without B.J. Upton.

Nolasco's name has continuously come up in trade rumors over the last few weeks, and it seems likely he'll be moved sooner rather than later. The right-hander is the club's all-time leader in wins (80), innings pitched (1,218 2-3) and strikeouts (994), but he's being shopped with the Marlins (30-52) unlikely to contend.

"You read about it; you see it on the Internet," he told MLB's official website. "But my job is to focus on what I have to do every fifth day."

Nolasco (4-8, 3.93 ERA) may have been distracted by the rumors in Friday's 9-2 loss to San Diego, allowing six runs and a season-high 11 hits in a season low-tying five innings.

"Whether I pitched good or bad tonight, I don't think that's going to dictate what kind of pitcher I am, or who I've been, or what they're going to get," he said. "There is nothing I can do but just continue on trying to make quality pitches."

The 30-year-old Nolasco hasn't faced the Braves (49-34) this year but has mostly struggled against them, going 5-10 - his most losses against any team - with a 5.34 ERA in 22 starts. He's 0-4 with a 7.07 ERA in his last five outings in the series.

Nolasco has had an especially rough time against Brian McCann, who is 19 for 55 (.345) with seven homers and four doubles in their matchups. Jason Heyward is 7 for 20 with four extra-base hits.

Upton is just 2 for 13 against Nolasco, but he could be held out after leaving Tuesday's 11-3 victory due to left forearm spasms. He's listed as day to day.

The Braves' win was their eighth in a row in the series, a stretch during which they've outscored the Marlins 40-10. Justin Upton, Freddie Freeman, McCann and Chris Johnson went a combined 11 for 17 with six RBIs and eight runs for Atlanta, which collected a season-high 16 hits - none of which left the yard. The Braves improved to 5-25 when failing to homer.

"I was just trying to pick up the guys in front of me and I think that's the mark of a good ballclub," said Johnson, who has batted .458 as the Braves have won six of seven.

Atlanta, which has hit .348 and scored 31 runs during a four-game winning streak, owns the majors' best home record at 28-11.

The Braves give the ball to Mike Minor (8-3, 2.98), who is 0-1 with a 5.50 ERA in his last three starts. The left-hander surrendered three runs and a season high-tying nine hits in six innings last Wednesday in a 4-3, 10-inning loss at Kansas City.

"It's one of those things where I felt I was making good pitches again," he said.

Minor threw 5 2-3 innings of five-hit ball in an 8-0 win at Miami on April 10, improving to 2-1 with a 1.27 ERA in his last four matchups in the series. Giancarlo Stanton is 2 for 9 against him, though both hits were homers.

Preview: Diamondbacks (42-41) at Mets (35-45)
                                Game: 3
                                Venue: Citi Field
                                Date: July 03, 2013 7:10 PM EDT

The Mets hope Tuesday marked a new era at Citi Field.

New York will look to translate the momentum gained from a seven-run seventh inning into a third win in three nights over the slumping Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday night.

The Mets (35-45) had been held to five runs or fewer in 30 straight home games when they came up to bat following the seventh-inning stretch Tuesday. During that span, they hit .209, while being held to 20 home runs and nine stolen bases.

On Monday, they nearly approached a mark of futility set earlier in the season when they left 22 runners on base in a 20-inning loss to Miami, leaving 20 on base. On Tuesday, however, they were deadly efficient, stranding just three runners in their 9-1 victory over the Diamondbacks (42-41). They refused to let a lengthy rain delay get in their way, finishing 6 of 8 with runners in scoring position.

"I know we haven't scored a lot of runs here in this ballpark, so seven was pretty good,' manager Terry Collins said. "Just took an hour and a half to finally get them.'

Matt Harvey (7-1, 2.00 ERA) would gladly wait an hour and a half for seven runs. The right-hander had a shot at three straight wins for the first time since he opened the season 4-0 after four starts, but the Mets bullpen coughed up a 4-1 lead to deny him the win. He certainly pitched well enough to earn his eighth victory, allowing a run and three hits over seven innings in a 6-4 loss to Washington Friday.

It marked the sixth time this season that Harvey has surrendered a single run or fewer yet failed to pick up the win. He finished with 11 strikeouts, the fifth time he has recorded 10 or more this season.

"I think you'd rather face anyone now except him,' said Washington third baseman Ryan Zimmerman, who went 1 for 3 against Harvey with a single and a strikeout.

Harvey recorded his first double-digit strikeout performance in his major league debut against Arizona on July 26. In his only career appearance against the Diamondbacks, Harvey struck out 11 and allowed three hits in 5 1-3 scoreless innings. He fanned Paul Goldschmidt three times and Gerardo Parra twice.

Parra missed Tuesday's game after sustaining a bandaged arm and scrapes on his face while attempting a diving catch on the warning track the previous night, but manager Kirk Gibson said he had been due for a day off regardless. The right fielder had been slumping with just four singles in his last 28 at_bats. Shortstop Didi Gregorius was no different with a .185 average since June 8. He went 0 for 3 Tuesday. Overall, Arizona is averaging 2.7 runs per game while losing eight of nine.

"We're not really clicking on anything right now,' Arizona pitcher Patrick Corbin said.

Randall Delgado (0-2, 4.05) will look to help snap the Diamondbacks' season-worst five-game skid and his own personal nine-start winless streak.

In his last nine starts, he is 0-6 with a 4.28 ERA, hampered by six runs of support during that stretch.

Delgado allowed two runs, eight hits and three walks in six innings of a 3-0 loss to Atlanta on Friday.

Delgado is just one of many struggling Arizona pitchers at the moment. The Diamondbacks have a 6.85 ERA during their five-game slide and have allowed a .330 average to opposing batters.
