The Devils haven’t won since goaltender Martin Brodeur suffered a back injury. Johan Hedberg has yielded 19 goals in his last five starts in place of the future Hall of Famer (0-4-1). The Devils have won their last three visits to Toronto, all in overtime. The Maple Leafs recovered from a lackluster 5-2 home loss to Montreal on Wednesday with a 5-4 overtime win at the Islanders on Thursday. Their home record is just 4-5-0 on the season and the road team is 4-0 in the last four meetings.
Tampa Bay Lightning at Pittsburgh Penguins (-150, 6)
Probable starting goaltenders: Mathieu Garon (TB), Marc-Andre Fleury (PIT)
The Tampa Bay Lightning are in the midst of a free fall in the Eastern Conference standings, having recorded only one victory in their last six contests. The Lightning return to the place their four-game losing streak started when they visit the Penguins in a game between the league’s top two offenses. The Lightning allowed the first three goals en route to a 5-3 setback at Pittsburgh on Feb. 24. Penguins F Evgeni Malkin (concussion) is expected to return to the lineup. The Russian has 11 points in his last three games against the Lightning.
Anaheim Ducks at Phoenix Coyotes (-101, 5)
Probable starting goaltenders: Viktor Fasth (ANA), Mike Smith (PHX)
These teams will be playing the middle contest of a rare three-game head-to-head set. Phoenix took the opener 5-4 in a shootout in the desert Saturday. The Ducks, who are 8-1-1 in their last 10 contests, are playing three straight games against the same opponent for the first time in franchise history. Anaheim has gone 9-for-18 on the power play over its last six games. The home team is 5-1 in the last six meetings.
Nashville Predators at Los Angeles Kings (-149, 5)
Probable starting goaltenders: Pekka Rinne (NSH), Jonathan Quick (LAK)
The Predators have lost four of their last five contests overall, scoring a total of two goals in the defeats. Los Angeles, which is kicking off a five-game homestand, had its five-game winning streak snapped Saturday as it suffered a 5-2 loss to the Canucks in Vancouver. The five goals were the most allowed by the Kings since a 7-4 setback at Anaheim on Feb. 2, ending a stretch of 11 consecutive contests in which they yielded three tallies or less. The reigning Stanley Cup champions lost their previous two meetings with the Predators this season, falling 2-1 in a shootout at home on Jan. 31 before being blanked 3-0 in Nashville on Feb. 7. The Kings are 7-0 in their last seven Monday games.
