Around the rink: Prez Day NHL betting news and notes
          ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Check out our quick-hitting betting notes for all four evening games on the NHL slate:

Carolina Hurricanes at Montreal Canadiens (-125, 5.5)

Probable goaltenders: Cam Ward (CAR), Peter Budaj (MTL)

The Montreal Canadiens and Carolina Hurricanes will vie for their respective fourth straight victories on Monday. Habs G Carey Price is still battling the flu, so Peter Budaj will make his second consecutive start in goal. Montreal is 1-for-18 on the power play in its last four contests after starting the season with at least one man-advantage goal in each of its first seven games. The Canadiens are 5-0 in their last five games vs. Southeast foes.

Toronto Maple Leafs at Florida Panthers (-110, 5.5)

Probable goaltenders: Ben Scrivens (TOR), Jose Theodore (FLA)

Ben Scrivens recorded his first career shutout by turning aside all 34 shots he faced on Saturday as the Maple Leafs posted their fifth win in six outings with a 3-0 triumph over struggling Ottawa. Toronto has fared well outside of the Air Canada Centre, posting a 6-2-0 mark. Florida claimed all four meetings with Toronto in 2011-12 and owns a five-game winning streak versus the Maple Leafs. The over is 4-0 in the last four meetings.

Calgary Flames at Phoenix Coyotes (-167, 5.5)

Probable goaltenders: Danny Taylor – NHL debut (CGY), Mike Smith (PHX)

Danny Taylor will make his first career NHL start in this one. Taylor currently leads the AHL with a 1.82 goals-against average playing for the Abbotsford Heat. Radim Vrbata leads Phoenix with 12 points, but left Saturday’s win over Columbus with a lower-body injury and is a game-time decision. The Flames are 1-5 in the last six meetings in Phoenix.

Columbus Blue Jackets at Anaheim Ducks (-201, 5.5)

Probable goaltenders: Sergei Bobrovsky (CBJ), Jonas Hiller (ANA)

The Anaheim Ducks return home from a six-game road trip with victories in eight of their last nine contests. The Blue Jackets, who have one win in their last six games, lost the opening two contests of their current six-game road trip, falling to Los Angeles on Friday and Phoenix on Saturday. Blue Jackets D James Wisniewski, who leads the team with three power-play goals, missed Saturday’s game to attend the birth of his child. He is likely to return to the lineup tonight. The Ducks are 4-0 in their last four home games and 6-0 in their last six vs. Central opponents.
