Atlanta Braves (-126, 7) at Los Angeles Angels

Tommy Hanson may be emerging as the premier power pitcher the Braves have been hoping he would. The red-headed hard-throwing righthander takes the mound today against the Angels’ Joel Pineiro.

Hanson has won three straight starts, posting a tidy 1.93 ERA during that stretch. He’s fastball is popping; his curve ball is biting. He’s as hot as any starter going today.

That’s not good news for an Angels team that has been struggling with the bats during its slide down the AL West standings. Heading into Friday night’s game against the Braves, the Halos were hitting .207 over their last 10 games.
