I know this isn't exactly buying points because there was more than 1/2 or 1 point involved, but sometimes it comes down to perception.
For example yesterday I thought Connecticut would win but also felt it would be a war.
Thus I played the ML when it was -150 early in the day and simply bet less than I would have had I played it at the closing line of 3, or 2 1/2 or just buying it down to 2.
