                Update

                Conference USA tournament (El Paso)
                Memphis (+4.5) lost 74-45 at UTEP Feb 28, shooting 33%, 1-18 from arc with 20 turnovers; Tigers made 10-18 from arc Friday- they're 5-3 vs spread as a C-USA underdog. Memphis won its last four appearances in C-USA final. Higher-seeded team is 7-1 in this game the last eight years. They're letting fans in game for free, so should be an exuberant Saturday morning crowd rooting on the hometown Miners.

                ACC tournament (Greensboro)
                Last year was first time in eight years both higher-seeded teams won in ACC semi-finals; North Carolina beat Clemson twice this year, 75-65 at home (-5.5) Jan 18, then 64-62 (+2) at Littlejohn Feb 12. Tar Heels were down 19 in second half to Miami Friday, rallied to win at buzzer. Tigers are 4-1-1 vs spread as underdog this season; they're just 4-7 in this event the last nine years.

                Duke star Smith hurt his foot last night, status is unknown for rematch with Virginia Tech, which upset Blue Devils 64-60 (+4.5) in Blacksburg two weeks ago. holding Duke to just 4-20 from arc. Hokies were 8-19 on foul line. Tech had dramatic win last nite, as Florida State's winning shot was nullified by replay. Duke won this tournament last two years, with seven straight wins. Under is 9-2 in last eleven Duke games.

                SEC tournament (Atlanta)
                Kentucky (-5) lost 68-66 at Alabama Jan 18, shooting 38% from floor in game they once trailed in by 20; Tide made 7-14 from arc.                 After starting season 7-20, St Joe's won four of last five games; Hawks (+11.5) lost 65-59 at Dayton Jan 12, having to bus to Dayton because of a snowstorm- trip took 9+ hours. St Joe's shot just 37% for game, 5-17 from arc. Dayton made 8-13 from arc in Friday's upset of Xavier, with Flyers racing out to 21-3 lead over #1 seed. Lower-seeded teams are 6-4 in A-14 semifinals last five years. Hawks are 5-3 in last eight as a dog.

                Temple (-6) beat Richmond 73-53 Feb 17, turning ball over only nine times. Owls' starting Gs were 19-25 from floor. Temple was 10-19 from arc in Friday's win, forcing 22 LaSalle turnovers. Spiders shot only 32% in win over URI last night; they're 4-2 as an underdog this seaaon. Six of last seven Richmond games stayed under total; last three Temple games went over. Temple won this tournament the last three years.

                Big 11 tournament (Indianapolis)
                Ohio State beat Michigan twice this season, 68-64 (-11) on road Jan 12, 62-53 (-16) at home Feb 3, but Wolverines won seven of last nine games since then, and are 11-1 vs spread in last 12 games. Michigan was down 11 at half Friday, but hit 11-24 from arc and upset Illinois. Ohio St shot only 32% vs Northwestern Friday, but had 17 offensive boards- seven of their last nine games went over the total.

                Michigan State (-6) lost 66-62 at Penn State Jan 8, then beat Lions by 18 in rematch Feb 10; both teams are playing third day in row. State played its best game of year Friday, leading Purdue by 14 at half, making 7-13 from arc, 25-31 from line. Penn State beat Wisconsin 36-33 last night in dreadful 42-possession game, slowest-paced game in 13 years. Under is 6-2 in Michigan State's last eight games.

                Big 12 tournament (Kansas City)
                Texas (+7) got down 12 at half, then went on 36-13 run and upset the Jayhawks 74-63 in Lawrence (+7) Jan 22, outscoring Kansas 25-11 on foul line. KU won this tournament four of last five years, beating Texas in finals three times; team with better Big 12 record won last six finals. Longhorns have had easier time so far this week, beating Sooners/Aggies by 20-12 points. Kansas beat Oklahoma State/Colorado by 6-7 points.

                Ivy League one-game playoff (New Haven, CT)
                Home side won both Princeton-Harvard games this year; Tigers won by hoop at home Feb 4, then lost by 12 at Harvard a week ago. This game is at Yale, Harvard's arch-rival. Crimson hasn't been in NCAAs since 1946, so this is biggest game in program history. Harvard won eight of last nine games, covering four of last six games. Over is 3-0 in last three Crimson games, 5-1 in last six Princeton games.

                MAC championship game (Cleveland)
                Home side won both Akron-Kent games this year; Zips won 65-62 (-4) at home Jan 8, then lost 79-68 (+3) in rematch March 4. Akron had big halftime leads (16-14 points) last two nights, but needed double OT to survive Miami Thursday. Kent shot 55% last night and still grabbed 12 offensive boards in last night's win- they've won both games this week by 11. Lower seed (Akron here) won this game three of last four years.

                Big East tournament (NYC)
                UConn has already won four days in row, last three days as underdogs, so they have amazing momentum and heart; Huskies lost to Louisville twice this season, 79-78 (-5.5) in double OT Jan 29, then 71-58 on road Feb 18 (+3.5). Cardinals were down 16 to Notre Dame last night, rallied to win in OT- they've won six of last seven games, covering all seven of them. Six of last eight Cardinal games stayed under.

                Mountain West tournament (Las Vegas)
                BYU beat San Diego State twice this year, 71-58 (-5.5) at home Jan 26, 80-67 (+4.5) on road Feb 26, but those were with big man Fields in the he's out now. Fredette went off for 52 points last night; he had 43 in the first game with Aztecs, but went just 8-23 in rematch. San Diego State shot under 40% in both games, 11-37 from arc. Aztecs won this event in two of last five years. BYU is 0-2 in title game last eight years, but both games were against UNLV, the host team.

                Pac-10 tournament (Staples Center)
                Home side won both Arizona-Washington games this year, with Huskies winning 85-68 (-10) at home Jan 20, then losing 87-86 (+2.5) in Tucson Feb 19, with Williams making great block with 0:02 left to preserve win. Huskies' guard Overton is out here (off-court issue). Arizona is 19-40 on arc in two games this weekend. Surprising that Arizona hasn't won this tournament in last eight years. Huskies won it twice in last six years.

                WAC tournament (Orleans Arena, Las Vegas)
                Utah State beat Boise State twice this year, 68-59 (-2.5) on road Jan 13, 77-49 (-11) at home Feb 5; Aggies won last seven games, with six of last eight games staying under total- they actually had the tougher game last night, nipping San Jose by 4, shooting only 37%. Boise made 9-15 from arc in easy win over New Mexico State. Utah State is 1-3 in WAC final the last five years; Boise won it in triple OT three years ago.

                Big West tournament (Anaheim)
                Top-seeded Long Beach State beat UCSB twice this season, 71-55 (+7) in Thunderdome Dec 28, 71-53 (-5.5) at home Feb 26. 49ers won last 11 games (7-4 vs spread). Gauchos were preseason pick to win Big West but finished 5th; they've breezed in two games this weekend, leading by 12-21 points at halftime. UCSB beat Long Beach 69-64 in this game LY. Higher seed (Long Beach here) has won this game the last five years.
