Manning brothers showdown may not be a shootout
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NEW YORK GIANTS (1-0)
at INDIANAPOLIS COLTS (0-1)
Kickoff: Sunday, 8:20 p.m. EDT, Line: Indianapolis -5, Total: 48.5
The Manning brothers meet for just the second time in their careers as the Giants visit Indianapolis. The other brotherly clash was in 2006 when Peyton’s Colts edged Eli’s Giants 26-21. Peyton (25-41, 276 yds, 1 TD, 1 INT) got the better of his little brother, who threw for 247 yards, two scores and one INT.
But this game will likely come down to who can run the football better. The Giants will look to control clock with their two-headed rushing attack of Ahmad Bradshaw and Brandon Jacobs. The Colts were outrushed 257 to 44 in their season-opening 34-24 loss to Houston. New York won its opener handily over Carolina (31-18), but the G-Men had four turnovers and racked up 95 yards in penalties.
New York starting TE Kevin Boss will not play due to a concussion, but reports out of Indy say Giants WR Hakeem Nicks will start despite an injured ankle. Nicks and the rest of the Giants don’t have to worry about hard-hitting Colts safety Bob Sanders, who is out 10-12 weeks after having biceps surgery.
The FoxSheets trends are all siding with New York to cover in this game:
