  • Large NCAA Play for Thursday

Marquette -6 over Pitt. I have been waiting for this play since the Pitt/WVa game ended last Friday. I think Pitt may very well come out flat after a triple OT win over their arch-rival. Besides Marquette is playing good ball having won 5 in a row. They are 5-1 in conference at home with the average margin of victory being 15.5 ppg. Marquette 83- Pitt 70. May post one or 2 more tomorrow but this is my biggie. BOL to all.

Gonna add on 1 smaller play Wisconsin +1' over Minnesota. Before being swept last year by Minny the Badgers had won 8 or 9 straight games over them. This is their only game in the regular season. These 2 programs seem to be going in opposite directions. Wisky has won 3 of their last 4 while Minny has lost 3 of its last 4. BTW does any of the Wisconsin followers know the status of Leuer. I know he was supposed to start practicing Monday but haven't heard whether he is playing tonight. I am not counting on him since its gonna take him a few games to get back in rythm. I suspect if he plays it will be very limited minutes. That's it.

I have a question for anyone including Raven, and I am not sure there is a right or wrong answer.
When someone(in this case Raven) says a team may come out flat because of an emotional performance in their last game, how important is the amount of time between that game and their next game?
Obviously, if a team like Pitt. played the next day, they would be emotionally drained.
In this case, almost a week has past by.
Again, I am not trying to be confrontational here but am just curious as to what everyone thinks about the importance of the time element.
I would also think that good coaching after some time has passed might lessen the chance of a letdown.

Its a let down game IMO. Time to get slapped in the face back down to reality. Thats why the line is -6
Part of it went on gambling, and part of it went on women. The rest I spent foolishly

JMO but I think emotions play a major role in a team's performance especially in the college games. I think it is really hard for a team that played a real emotional game not to have some type of letdown the following game. The length of time between games has nothing to do with it. I just think it is human nature.

I just posted a play on Pitt, before looking at Raven's thread. I think the time factor is real and it's why I'm rejecting the likelihood of a letdown. However, Raven has solid logic. I've been watching these things for years. My shaky memory recalls Boston College (I think) beating the North Carolina dream team and then losing its next game to Harvard. I don't normally go in somebody else's thread to disagree but I think savage raises an interesting point of discussion. Raven and I simply have different takes on the issue as it pertains to this game.

The fact is this is more of a play on Marquette than a play against Pitt. I think Marquette is the better team right now and is playing better ball. The possible Pitt letdown factor is an added plus. I think the line is only slightly inflated. I thought a 4-5 point spread was more realistic. Regardless I wasn't impressed with Pitt in that game against WVa. last week, a game which they were extremely lucky to win.
