My shaky memory recalls Boston College (I think) beating the North Carolina dream team and then losing its next game to Harvard. I don't normally go in somebody else's thread to disagree but I think savage raises an interesting point of discussion. Raven and I simply have different takes on the issue as it pertains to this game.
Re: emotion-look at what happens sometimes(certainly not always) in the NC Conference Championships:
On occasion you get a team which knows that the only way in which they can get into the NCAA Tournament is to win their own conference tournament.
We have all witnessed times when over the course of three of even four days the team in question will win the tournament by knocking off on consecutive days teams which are rated higher then they are and in many cases teams which they lost to during the regular season.
Perhaps in instances like this just the reverse occurs-the team doesn't have time for a letdown and is playing on sheer adrenaline.
Anyways the whole topic of letdowns has been debated and bet on for years-sometimes they occur and sometime they don't.
I certainly respect both of the opinions you guys express as well as Raven's addendum that he considers Marquette a better team now in any event.
May the better team win!Last edited by savage1; 02-18-2010, 03:02 PM.
