Pacers: Indiana is struggling right now, as they've lost 5 of their past 7 games SU in route to a 16-30 SU record. The Pacers are 10-12 SU and 9-13 ATS at home this season. The Pacers are 3-7 ATS as the listed home underdog this season. Indiana is also 20-26 ATS for the entire year, so needless to say it's been a tough year all the way around for this Pacers team. Indiana really struggles on defense this year, as they've giving up more than 100 PTS in 8 of their past 9 games this season. The Pacers allow 104.4 PPG this season, so more often than not this team is playing from behind. All 5 starters for the Pacers average double digits in PTS, led by F Danny Granger and his 23.2 PPG. F Troy Murphy averages 14 PPG and nearly 10 RPG for Indiana. Indiana is 0-20 SU when Murphy grabs less than 11 rebounds in a game.

Los Angeles Lakers at Philadelphia 76ers [7:00 PM ET]

Lakers (-6.5, O/U 202.5): Los Angeles and G Kobe Bryant always circle their game in Philadelphia on the calendar each season. Ever since the Lakers played the Sixers in the Finals years ago, they've enjoyed playing against Philadelphia. Bryant is from the Philadelphia area, and he's averaged 26 PPG, 5 APG, and 5 RPG the last 7 times he's played in Philadelphia. The Lakers are 35-11 SU this season, the 2nd best record in the entire NBA and the best record in the Western Conference. The Lakers are 12-8 SU and 8-12 ATS on the road this season. Los Angeles is also 6-8 ATS as a single digit road favorite this season. The Lakers have scored 115 PTS or more in 3 of their past 4 games, as they've been playing very efficiently on the offensive end. They are 4th in the NBA in scoring, averaging 104 PPG for the season. Defensively, the Lakers are only allowing opponents to shoot 43.9% from the field, 4th best in the NBA.

Lakers are 5-0 ATS last 5 games vs. a team with a losing SU record.
Over is 5-0 last 5 games as a road favorite.

                      Key Injuries - None.

PROJECTED SCORE: 107 (OVER - Total of the Day)

76ers: Philadelphia has been a major disappointment this season, as they are only 15-30 SU this season. The Sixers aren't in good form currently either, as they've lost 4 of their past 6 games both SU and ATS. Philadelphia is only 7-15 SU and 5-17 ATS at home this season. The Sixers are also 1-6 ATS as a home underdog, winning their last game against the Mavericks ATS in that specific role. Philadelphia does have 5 current players averaging double digits in PTS this season, led by F Andre Igoudala. Igoudala averages 17.4 PPG, but is only shooting 42% from the field this season. As a team, the Sixers score the 9th fewest PTS in the NBA at 97.7 PPG. Defensively, the Sixers allow 100.4 PPG, but they are improving slightly as they've held 8 of their past 10 opponents under 100 PTS. The Sixers have lost both recent meetings at home to the Lakers, allowing an average of 110 PPG in both games combined.

76ers are 1-7 ATS last 8 games as a home underdog.
Under is 6-0 last 6 home games.

                      Key Injuries - None.

                          Len's Top 5

TGIF everyone, here's my Top 5 for January 29, 2010 from Len Berman.

                          1. Quick Hits

Arizona quarterback Kurt Warner is expected to announce his retirement today. Brett Favre is expected to drag it out interminably.
Roger Federer advances to the finals of the Australian Open. He will face Andy Murray.
Phil Mickelson trails by 6 shots after the opening round at Torrey Pines.
David Lee didn't make the All Star Game. The theory goes that the Knicks aren't a good enough team which hurt his chances.
They sure know how to party. New Orleans will hold a Saints parade the Tuesday after the Super Bowl, win or lose.

                          2. Who?

Talk about a unique way to advertise a Super Bowl halftime show. Pete Townshend and The Who will be performing at halftime of the Super Bowl, so schools and residents in the area will be alerted to a sex offender in the area. Who? Right. Who. Sounds like an Abbott and Costello routine. A Florida group is sending out the warnings because Townshend was arrested in England in 2003 for cruising the Internet looking for child porn. He said he was just doing research and was never convicted. Enjoy the show everyone.

                          3. Crystal Bawl

Sorry New York baseball fans, it'll be an empty October/November. Baseball Prospectus, using its complicated statistical formulas, predicts the Yankees and Mets won't make the playoffs this year. If it makes you feel any better a year ago they predicted the Mets to finish first and the Phillies to miss the post season. To refresh your memory, the Phillies were in the World Series and the Mets weren't.

                          4. Friday Mailbag

The Yankees/Johnny Damon divorce prompted this from J.M. on Facebook (Len Berman's Top 5.) "I put all the blame on Scott Bor-ass! (Damon's agent.) He is the single worst person for baseball in the history of the sport. Boras missed the boat and once again, overestimated what his client is worth and now Johnny is going to have to play on a 2nd or even 3rd rate team."
Editor's Note: Who knew the Yankees had a budget?

M.L. doesn't forgive and forget. When the New York baseball writers gave A-Rod their Postseason MVP Award he wrote, "It's nice to see that A-Rod can win an MVP award, which really should be called the MVC (C is for Cheaters.)"

Joepozz pointed out in the comments section of ThatsSports.com that with Andre Dawson joining Gary Carter as wearing Montreal Expo caps on their Hall of Fame plaques, there are more Expos than Mets (Tom Seaver) in the Hall of Fame. (And the Expos don't exist anymore.)

And the joke that keeps on giving. When I mentioned the notorious marathon cheat, Rosie Ruiz, J.L. wrote, "Rose Ruiz lives.....she created a line of stockings that are guaranteed not to run."

                          5. Memory Lane

The joy for me in doing the Top 5 is the stories you tell. When I mentioned Super Bowl I, subscriber Lex S. in Pennsylvania emailed me that he was there. What he remembers most was all the empty seats in the L.A. Coliseum. The game was televised by 2 networks, CBS and NBC. The ticket cost him $12. and the program $1. He added "I guess 12 bucks sounds cheap by today's standards but I was stationed with the Marine Corps in Southern California in '67 making about $100 a month. But at least I can always say I was there for the very first one."
And as an aside, despite being televised by 2 networks, none of the video tape from either telecast exists today.

                          Have a nice weekend everyone.

Happy Birthday: Two time Olympic gold-medal winning diver, Greg Louganis. 50.
                          Bonus Birthday: Oprah. 56.

Today in Sports: Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth, Honus Wagner, Christy Mathewson and Walter Johnson are the first players elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame. 1936.
Bonus Event: Nevermore! Edgar Allan Poe's The Raven was published for the first time. If not for the success of the Baltimore native, who knows what the Baltimore Ravens would be called today.

I have the honor of emceeing the Thurman Munson Awards dinner next Tuesday night, February 2nd, at the Grand Hyatt in Manhattan. Among the honorees are Joba Chamberlain, Lou Piniella and Darryl Strawberry. It benefits the AHRC. For ticket information call 212-249-6188.
