    Mike Schmidt 20

    Good question, Mike!
The Lord knows that I do not know everything..........but as far as Phil Steele betting his own games, I know he does not!
    How??
From someone in Vegas that exposes con artists.........sorry I cannot name names.
Now I am not saying that Phil Steele is a con artist but he has been on Larry Grossman's (handicapping) radio show which airs 5 days a week in Vegas. Do you know Mr. "honest" Larry Grossman who proclaims to gather only the best hand-picked cappers??

Anyway, you are right to question me and you should draw your own conclusions.
I was conned by Mike Warren Sports when I was 17 years old and a senior in high school back in the late eighties. I learned a lot from that and have investigated these touts that hype picks.
It is only getting worse as there are more hypsters than ever!
I am not saying that there aren't some good services out there but they are truly outnumbered.
If a service offers a "G.O.Y." run the other way!........it is only a hyped pick in disguise.

    Take care and good betting!

I have heard from a very reliable source also that it is very rare that Phil Steele bets the games he gives out.
With all the money pouring in from his newsletter and phone picks(as stated it is just a matter of time before the jig is up, and everyone will realize that it is dumb to pay when you get the stuff for nothing), why should he?
The classic bookie in the traditional sense doesn't bet either;he knows that he will do much better in long run just sitting on the bets of others.

Most handicappers can't bet games because it is illegal to do so unless they are in Vegas. It is even illegel for some services to speak of a exact point spread live on the phone when getting their picks.

The most successful pushers are the ones that don't use what they're pushing. Sometimes they deal some good shit, and sometimes they don't. Before you know it your hooked to take it all.

          TALk ABOUT SCAMMERS

Remember Dr. Ron Bash? Is he still around or is he living on an island with his lover Stu Feiner?

            burned

I also was burned and conned when I was a little bit younger by Jim Fiest and his henchman as well as ATS. It was the late 90's and I was just getting into handicapping. So GOY's and Lock Clubs looked like a sure way to make money. Needless to say it was a rough start to my handicapping career but I have rebounded. Being in the marketing field I respect how they have built up business but as a handicapper I despise how they hype how great they do but never mention when they suck. Such as when ATS loses a Lock of the Year you never hear anything about it. And just last weekend I noticed Fiest lost his College and Pro Underdog Games of the Year (Duke and NY Giants). No mention of those ass kickings he got but he does have his huge NBA plays this week!! Yeah right. Paying for picks just leads to trouble especially from these big fancy handicapping sites. The information you recieve in here is much more knowledgable and helpful!!! Thanks to everyone.

Feist is an overthehill handicapper and ought to go back to running those porno sites on the internet.

                  great thread!!!!!!!!

Seriously, it is unfair to compare Phil Steele to the likes of jim feist, jack price, kevin duffy, stu feiner, dr. ron bash, johnny dimarco, etc. etc.........(at least 3 of the above named are probably the same person).........the combined record of the handicappers i mentioned is 1,223,441-3 (documented by themselves), and i do not know where they get the 3 losses from

Steele is honest , or at least RELATIVELY honest given the business he is in...........most of us that contribute to this site have been on the wrong end of a scamdicapper before just like most of us have been in that position where we have owed $3,000 and not paid it............

my point being this:: say what you want about phil steele, but comparisons to dr. ron bash are not fair, at the very least, his college football scorebook every year is incredible and provides us with enough TRUE information to cap games successfully ourselves

i apologize to te above named capped if i mis-stated their record by giving them 3 losses

                    Steele-Whats in a name?

My Grandfather told me that during his time people were named according to their profession, ex. John Blacksmith. Apparently, Phil Steele is carrying on the tradition. F*#! Phil and all the other self-proclaimed "professional" handicappers. Guys on this site, like the memphis mobster, are far better than those strokes.

Shorty-Phil is not in the same class as the scamdicappers you cite, but he does overplay and spin his record.
Today on comp line he started bragging again about the GOY on Wisconsin and how easily game won.
He did not state again that overall picks on Sat. were 2-5 a LOSING day, and that is bottom line.
