Well if it can cost you a race, maybe they should pay more attention to it. Speeding on pit road is just as bad as missing your pit box but that doesn't happen 10 times a race unless your name is Dale Earnhardt Jr.

I think it's because it is just something else for the drivers to look at and get distracted with. And whether you're reading 45 mph or 4,000 RPM on the tach, it really doesn't matter.
