  • I am probably the biggest BRAVES fan around but i am giving up on this franchise

The way they handled the entire Tom Glavine situation makes me sick to my stomach.I do feel like as a business decision that Mccloud and A Young Tommy Hanson is better than a 40 year old pitcher but the way they handled Glavine was the worst show of class i have ever seen. Why in the world tell a man you want him on your team, then he works his ass off to get back on the team rehabbing 6 days a week then you send him to single A ball in a no win situation. If he gets rocked in A ball then they say we dont need you at the major league level. If he pitches 6 scoreless innings which he did they say well he should its A ball. This is a future hall of famer that was the face of your franchise for almost 15 years and you treat him like a piece of shit.Sorry if this has been talked about already but been working and this is the first chance i have had to vent on this shit.

They didn't treat Smoltz too well either when he left. Some shady shit is going on in the front office. That's for sure Tech.

andruw jones wanted to play here also and only wanted the major league minimum to play.the braves countered with a minor league deal.look what andruw is doing in a part time role with texas this year.

I really can't wait to see him pitch up here. I've heard him in many interviews and he sounds like a GREAT guy. He is also VERY Bitter with how the Braves GM treated him on the way out.

it was going to cost the braves $1 million for his first 30 days on the roster 1.5 million after 60 days and 2 million after 90 days.so with my figuring 4.5 million to keep glavine on this roster for the entire year.yes i understand that is alot of $$$$$$$$ but tell me there is not a better way to handle this situation.you have a sure fire hall of famer that you could use to market your franchise for the next 20 years(see hank aaron).you could have him at the ballpark doing signings or whatever, now you have the face of the franchise pissed saying he will never walk inside turner field again unless he is pitching on another team.on the radio today they asked him if he would show up for the greg maddux night when they retire maddux's number and he said no way.he said even if they have a glavine night and retire my number i wont even watch it on tv.that is not what any front office guy needed to hear i am sure.they totally blew it

                    just my 2 cents.

How can anyone have any respect for the braves organization?? Seriously!!!!

This is the same organization who had the all time home run king Aaron and when they built a new stadium it was named after the owner himself Ted Turner.

I love Ted Turner simply for this move alone. I mean who has the stones to name something after themselves...LMAO I think it's totally wrong and out of line but its hilarious and you gotta have a huge set to do something like that.

Smoltz,Glavine, Aaron all treated like shit

well bry i can see your point from the outside looking in but as a lifelong braves fan a lifetime of living here,it was a right decision to name the stadium after ted turner.at that time he was not the owner because time warner bought out ted turner and he was in my opinion a great owner.he cared about this team.when we were going 52-110 every year he was still at every game sitting in the front row.he also changed baseball by signing andy messersmith who at the time was baseball's first free agent.they named the road that turner field sits on hank aaron blvd.but in my honest opinion turner gave his heart and soul to this team and put everything he had to make this team as good as it could be for a number of years so the stadium name is the right choice.

tech you can always join the nation.

I can tell you and mavs are the few passionate braves fans. I mean I lost all respect for the fans of the braves when the day of a World Series game you could walk up and buy tickets. That says it all. Something like that would never EVER occur in places like boston, nyc, philly, pittsburgh, baltimore no way no how recession depression whatever it would be a sell out no doubt about it

Smoltz said he waited and waited for Atlanta to offer him a contract. Something, anything. He said he kept asking if they wanted to or were going to and he couldn't even get a response from them. They kept blowing him off and blowing him off so when Boston came in and said hey, we want you, Smoltz said it felt good to be wanted and he left. He was VERY, VERY, bitter with Braves management saying after all those years, they could have at least talked to him or said they were moving on or something. Instead they turned their head and ignored him. He is still pissed about how he was treated on the way out and i don't blame him.

Bry, it was easy to be a Braves fan when they won 14 straight titles. It's hard now when we can't put the pieces back together, and it's even harder when the FO pulls stupid shit like this. Their showing a real lack of class to the guys who made this orginization what it is today.

LOL- to what you said about Turner though. But despite it all, the guy really is a good dude. And like tech said. Turner Field sits on Hank Aaron Blvd.
